Ron how did your chicks from our fly babies turn out? Would you order eggs from them again??
They did a bunch better than I thought they would do! 6 of the hatched. I have 1 wheaten Penedesenca and 5 Partridge Penes. One of the is a very large combed cockerel already.

I will get some pictures today.

Bob is one of the sellers that said they would ship more and that they would ship using a different method. He did not ship more and likely never will. So far the only person that has shipped more was Dick Horstman(that is after they said they would ship more). Horstman did ship in foam the second time and I did hatch one Partridge Rock and 7 RIRs.

I rehomed 15 cockerels last night and 22 earlier this week...You can't tell I got rid of anything.... Still way to many Chicken! Yikes!

On a Happy note...
Love these girls...

wow real nice Molly
such cute girls! i can't compete numbers-wise, but dropped the two araucana boys off at the feed store today -- definitely a good feeling.

and panting cats really is a sad sight -- it's too hot. we're hunkered down indoors by the only fan...
us too. just ceiling fans. Though it did cool off well last night
Oh, #1 answer, move to a coastal area in Washington state....................maybe an island.....................I can dream!
it rains alot up there though. west of Petaluma and Santa Rosa and up by the Russian River is quite nice

Try Flying a farm for all your Wheaten Penedesenca needs

wow went to a kids birthday party in Roseville yesterday. Car said 110 there and 113 on Auburn Folsom. Then went to a Rivercats game last night. was the first baseball game I have ever been too where my only thought was I can not wait to leave. at 10pm the car said 96 driving on highway 50. when I got home at around 11 in was 76 here. House was warm but not hot.

This is why I like it up here

I'm smack in between Petaluma & Santa Rosa, but thankfully at a much higher elevation (they've both been scorching) -- and through a small gap in the trees i can just barely see the coast from here, through the gap west of petaluma: absolutely ZERO fog out there this morning.

forecast here is "only" for 97° -- but they've also changed the 5-day outlook, now saying it'll stay between 97-100° until FRIDAY. ugh, heat waves aren't supposed to last this long!!

great hiking areas out there.
That range just east of where you are at has some great spots. Sugarloaf area is a great place to hang out and holds the most inland area of the Redwoods I believe

It was 111 yesterday here in the East Bay area. The weather report this morning predicts temps in the 100's through July 4th.

yep, i actually worked on Sugarloaf's 20-year mgmt plan back when i was working as an envt'l consultant.

but it's too **** hot for any hiking!

Ugh. I hate this heat, but at least I don't have to work today. Those postal trucks get super hot, like driving around in an aluminum can, inside it is usually 10-20 degrees hotter than outside. They mount a little fan to the dashboard, and think that's good enough. I have to work Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and then I'm off the rest of next week. I had 4 of my 24 shipped eggs hatch Yesterday. Most didn't even develop. I think they had to have been pretty old. From the picture of the eggs in her listing I figured out they are the same eggs she sent me - a week later. The poor chicks are a hot mess. They have super sticky egg goo all over them. I had to give one a full bath last night, because it's whole body was covered and it couldn't move, even one of it's eyes was stuck shut. It's doing a little better now, but one of it's wings is stuck to it's body, so I'm going to have to try again later.
