California - Northern

If they do not have pips, you can candle them and listen for peeps inside the eggs.

Congratulations on the beautiful Chicks!

that's true, i hadn't thought of that -- perhaps i'll troop down there with a flashlight -- although i hate to handle them too much if they might still hatch? might that not disturb their positioning or something?

Wait until tonight when it is dark outside.

The hen will position them for you.

I keep the German birds and they do quite well at the shows. And yes, the Germans took over our American breed and "saved" them when we let them go hatchery for the most part.

Love the color of them, got to see some at the Stockton show last January and very striking.
I don't remember exactly, but I think I had most of the entry at Stockton

The "kids" aren't peeking but the names are James Russell or Ava Holly . And my new name is nana Kandi . Forgive me if its tmi but I have lost three babies this last year and now our grand baby is due... If there are no babies in the house my pet population GROWS . Yesterday
My husband told me I'm in "pet restriction". Rofl I caught him checking the incubator AND snuggling the two new kitties.

Love those names, nana included. My almost 2 year old granddaughter calls me Grandma Susan. A mouthful but she seems to handle it well - hollers Grandma Su SAN and grabs my finger to drag me along if I'm not fast enough. She loved our chicks but isn't sure about them now that they are blucking instead of chirping. I'm waiting until we start getting eggs. I loved helping my grandma collect them when I was very little and think Mira will, too. Sounds like you are in a hormonal stew but keeping your sense of humor not to mention keeping busy. Your DH sounds wise to express this concerns about future additions but very supportive with the recent additions. You'll both be over the moon with the new grandchild. I was 30 before I had Emily and she was 31 before she had Mira, our only grandchild. I feel blessed but would love more grandbabies anytime. Got to say, I'm at a point in life where I can keep up with the toddler but do appreciate the change when she goes home with mommy and daddy in Santa Cruz. We do face-time on our iPhones between visits. Let us know when James/Ava arrives

Just snapped a picture of a couple of eggs from my legbars. They lay the most amazingly HUGE egg.

I am not a tiny woman, 5'8", so it's not that my hand is small. I wish the blue would photograph true.

They are very nice eggs!

It is hard to get the color of the eggs to look good in a picture.

HUGE!! (i doubt your hand is that purplish, either...)

How will you break her?
I tried breaking her already. After she squished the babies in the shells, I broke her. She laid for a week, then started sitting again. She can sit there for all I care, she's not getting anything else. I will most likely rehome her.
