Deb! Santa Clara county denies the old lady sports!

Everything from chickens to canning was for 18 and under. Bummer!

Why?

They do stay skinny for Quite a while. They are not Hens until they are a year old. My 2.5 year old Australorps are quite plump.

Hatchery Wellsummers?
Nope hatched from Deann's eggs. The first one I had was a hatchery Welsummer. She wasn't mean, just wouldn't let anyone get close to her.

These two are turds.

I have my first dozen of Blue Egg Layer eggs!

I also have the most amazing Green and Olive eggs!

They are greener--Camera is wonky today.

Anytime that type of thing happens I go all frank Herbert in my head and start screaming " they denied us the haj" in a massive dune universe spice extravaganza!

They denied us the old lady sports!!!
Beautiful eggs Ron!

Thank You!

It almost makes you want to break out the Family Atomics!

OH, and I have two Welsummers that are kind of jerky. One for sure keeps trying to be the boss and I keep backing her down but she wants to challenge me every time I come in the coop. What's up with that?

Although I love their egg color, I have never had very nice Wellies and these two seem to be continuing that trend.
Mine are not lap chickens, but I've never had a mean wellie.

Nice! Blue and green eggs are so difficult to photograph.

The State Fair news crew filmed events. They had asked if they could interview me, I told them I was only the clerk and they should interview the judge. I was standing in the background doing my best to be a good clerk (out of the way and unobtrusive, only speak to the judge to set up their classes, etc). All of a sudden it dawned on me I was actually in the shot, LOL

So, is that you behind her? I'd sure like to know what you look like so I can say hi if I ever see you around at a show, etc.

I don't think she has laid an egg in the nest box since April and those were soft shelled.

I'm sorry for your troubles, every time that you have an issue with your chickens. I know how much they mean to you.

So I guess my girls are about 14 weeks old this weekend and I have one very nice Wheaten Ameraucana that let's me pet her chest. I noticed that she is pretty darn skinny. She doesn't really look that skinny but her keel is pretty prominent when I pet her. They have free choice food all day and the treats I give them. They are on King Freedom starter/grower.
She's still young, so will probably fill out as she matures. Make sure that she does not have parasites. Some chickens do not fill out to their full size, due to lack of vigor or poor breeding.

Yolo Fair only has chicken shows for 18 and under. I wish that they had an open show. This is an Ag County!

Whoo hoo! They look good sized. Mine are still small, pullet eggs.

Were my last eggs fertile? Your boys are getting low on feed.
