YAY! I LOVE pictures.. I already have the thousand words..![]()
Beautiful pictures again, worth more than a thousand words!
I didn't see an Ameraucana. Did you mean Ellie - the EE? She isn't ready to lay yet. When she gets ready her comb and wattles will grow. Emmet is a very handsome boy, but he isn't an Ameraucana either. His pea comb is cute though - EEs have pea combs too.![]()
Speckles is a Splash and Brawny is Blue - you already have those genetics in your flock! I think Brawny is getting red leakage on his wings, boys do that sometimes, especially if he does have Mille Fleur coloring in his background. He doesn't need MF to get red leakage though - its a gene that likes to pop up in the boys and not the girls.
My Brahma started laying before my EEs did too - was surprised. She was a bantam, but she started almost a month before I got anything out of any of my other bantams too!
They are wheaten/blue wheaten true Ameraucanas. So yes, the color is not recognized, but they are not crosses/mutts. I had a Schnauzer that was a purebred, but he had patched markings on him so he wasn't a recognized color. It meant he wasn't show quality, but didn't make him any less schnauzer, neither did it make him a mutt.
Yeah, Speckles is a Blue Isbar x BC Marans and Brawny is an english orpington, one of his parents is a MF I believe.
