YAY! I LOVE pictures.. I already have the thousand words..

Beautiful pictures again, worth more than a thousand words!

I didn't see an Ameraucana. Did you mean Ellie - the EE? She isn't ready to lay yet. When she gets ready her comb and wattles will grow. Emmet is a very handsome boy, but he isn't an Ameraucana either.

His pea comb is cute though - EEs have pea combs too.

Speckles is a Splash and Brawny is Blue - you already have those genetics in your flock! I think Brawny is getting red leakage on his wings, boys do that sometimes, especially if he does have Mille Fleur coloring in his background. He doesn't need MF to get red leakage though - its a gene that likes to pop up in the boys and not the girls.

My Brahma started laying before my EEs did too - was surprised. She was a bantam, but she started almost a month before I got anything out of any of my other bantams too!

They are wheaten/blue wheaten true Ameraucanas. So yes, the color is not recognized, but they are not crosses/mutts. I had a Schnauzer that was a purebred, but he had patched markings on him so he wasn't a recognized color. It meant he wasn't show quality, but didn't make him any less schnauzer, neither did it make him a mutt.
Yeah, Speckles is a Blue Isbar x BC Marans and Brawny is an english orpington, one of his parents is a MF I believe.

I looked at the girls' combs and wattles last night. Ellie's is like non-existent.

Ironically Bab's the Brahma's is pretty pinkish red
.

The olive egger's is pretty pink too.

Is your brahma laying? If not, she is ready!

Nope, still just a golf ball in the nest box. There's all 20 weeks as of about Saturday.

What do you think is up with the Ameraucana's comb, or lack of?
The thing to remember about POL (point of Lay) is that the time of year makes a difference. The average for all chickens is 22 weeks. They lay sooner during the time of the year with the most light. At this time of year and being at 20 weeks then the Brahma will start close to on time.

Hatchery chickens usually start sooner too. If they do not start by late fall they may not reach POL until after January unless they get supplemental light.

The Brahma does look ready.

Thanks as always, Ron! That makes more sense now because the brahma IS a hatchery chick along with two wyandottes, one of which has a more pink comb and the other is still really tan. All of the others are from BYC'ers.

I have 2 broody Seramas right now, they dug out all of my succulents out of my container gardens to make their nest

completely ruined them. They are in the broody cage, hope to snap them out of it soon. Today is day 1, they are not happy. lol

I have two broodies right now. Driving me crazy!! They scare all the others out of the nesting boxes, so I keep finding eggs in random places. One of my little EE's started jumping the garden fence and laying in there. I found a spot with a bunch of little blue eggs, and a whole bunch of pecked tomatoes. Like she thought she needed a snack while she's laying.

They are bad very bad. Guess it gives me an opportunity to re-do my succulent bowls.
I have had two Broodies this year with one going Broody three times. It is quite a bother. Luckily she scoots out of the way while the several lay eggs in the nest box with her. She did manage to hatch 2 out of three eggs but then abandoned them. I was ble to save both chicks though.

She started laying again a couple of weeks ago so now I have white SG Dorking eggs again.

Black to black will give you all black.  It's when you start throwing in the blues and splashes that things get mixed up.

Sorry, I haven't got back to my PM's.  I only have one new chick and it's something I wanted for me.  I do have about 9 broodies right now though.  If anyone hatches chicks I could get something for you.

Yes please! I'd greatly appreciate it! When are they due to hatch?
