California - Northern

Thanks! How can I find the county's rules for it?
Look up the Zoning information and then check on the rules for it with the County. You will probably be able to have Hens and Roosters too!

Ask the Realtor what the Zoning is. The county should have the rules online. If you have trouble finding the rules post here and I will see what I can find.

I'm not really sure which roo they like best. The OE and Brahma like the OE rooster. The others just don't seem to care. The other day the OE rooster was trying to give me rocks and treating me a little like a hen so I went and pinned him into a squat but he got me on the way down, little buggar! It's a big bruise now, looks like I've been playing paintball.

Dang! You've had quite the morning! We haven't heard coyotes in awhile at our place but they are definitely around. Hope the lil' buck is okay.
Yep, had many bites like that. Sure does hurt! They can do a lot of damage. One time a hatchery EE rooster I had jumped up and spurred me on the back of the hand. He hit a vein and boy did it bleed. He ended up as dinner for a Bobcat when he took the girls to far free ranging. Hopefully it was only a fear bite and your OE rooster will back off when he learns who's the boss.

I have not heard any Coyotes lately so I was surprised to see this one. And he was BIG! Poor little baby deer is no bigger than 3 feet tall and just lost its spots.

New eggs!! Exciting!

Chickengirl receiving eggs i can tell you shredded paper eggs seem to hatch significantly better.

What you are doing when you are packing eggs is trying to dampen the vibrations that will streach the membrane ( chick gets too big and will not hatch or move to zip) crack or break the egg ( bacteria bombs) detach the aircell or dislodge the embryo from the yolk or whoever it attaches to. It is the same reason a dicky is better then a sportsman. The vibration is dampened by wood and heightened by metal.

The shredded paper will absorb more vibration then wadded paper. J don't know if it would help in your situation however I suspect that would only be helped by double boxing.

8 good luck finding a place.

I'm thinking good thoughts for all of you being affected by the fire.

Did you have to get stitches? Odd that it it was just one coyote?

Should we just keep all three for awhile longer and watch?

We had a lazy Sunday and decided to hang out on the back lawn and let the flock out to free range. They had never been out that long and LOVED it!

Here's the hubs with the only other girls he's allowed to have over. Cuckoo, Olive and Babs. Olive and Bab's are the new layers.

Ellie has figured out that she's safe from the roos up on "daddy's" back.

They tried typing a few times and wanted to play.

The double yolker.

The OE first egg. Is that a blood spot?

Yeah it does!

No, it stopped bleeding on its own thank goodness.

I was surprised to see just one lone Coyote too. Sure glad it was just a Coyote! I was only about 10 feet from it.

The pictures of your lazy Sunday with the chickens made me laugh! What spoiled chickens! I love it!

Ok, here there are! Olive the OE was the first to lay on Saturday followed by Bab's the Brahma a couple of hours later. Yesterday Bab's laid another, albeit smaller egg, but no egg from Olive. This morning we got another from Olive but more green and sans speckles. Bab's first and second egg. The double yolker on the left. And here's Olive's second egg from a few hours ago. Greener, but no speckles.
Pretty pictures! What's a good color background for blue eggs? Every pic I take if mine look nothing like the real blue they are

Hmm I would try doing a custom white balance. I'm thinking of doing that for my egg shoots. Even the green one isn't coming through very well. Or you could put the blue egg on a contrasting color.

Nikon that green egg is really pretty with or without the speckles.

Poor girl's first egg had to be a double yolker! I want a double yolker. Never had one. How old are your chickies again?

I had that same bruise right above my right knee from Righty a Welsummer pullet.
