Hi chicken people. :) So my parents are planning on building a pool, but the other day they through out the idea if we moved to a better house with a pool and sold this one, we could save over 20,000....I don't know yet if they're seriously considering moving, but obviously one of the first things I thought of was my chickies! They threw out the town name "Palo Cedro", it's a town near Redding...does anyone know the chicken laws for Palo Cedro? Where can I find them?
By the time you pay the real estate fees, closing and loan fees and all the moving expenses plus the hassle of moving saving $20K will not mean very much. Also, depending on your when you bought you current house your property tax may go up. I am a Realtor and can tell you people are usually surprised by how much moving actually costs.

Quote: She'll be fine. It's much more common in a pullet that's still trying to stabilize her egg production. Generally they quickly settle into a "normal" egg each day. Enjoy them while you can, I always think it's a special treat to find a double-yolked egg. I found one a couple of weeks ago with my quail.

So the orpingtons I got from Florida sill haven't layed. Would they go right into a molt after being shipped? I wonder when they would molt in Florida..different time of year?

Maybe they will go into molt. Shipping stress can do that to I suppose.

I still hope you get some eggs soon!

So do I it is stressing me out! I convinced my husband this was a good purchase lol
Of course it was a good purchase! We will all want chicks from them next year.....

Just got back after the Giants game trip. Dad got to see his favorite (Pablo) hit his triple, not sure how many more games he'll be able to get to, his knees and back have gotten bad. The ferry made it much easier for them though.

Coming back Sunday night we didn't see many smoke plumes, lightening over towards Trinity county but not much else. Most of our complex fires are under control-letting them burn in on themselves. The locations are so rugged you can't get people in to fight them, just watch the borders for spot fires. Firefighters are amazing people! Hope everyone is out of harms way and that families will be back together soon.

In answer to Tommysgirls question. Here in Oregon for 4-H dark pants are required except dogs and horses. They have loosened up on white shirts but they must be long sleeved and buttoned up. Here in Josephine county some of us have reputations for being mean, we adhere to the dress code when the kids are going into the rings.

Just drove through Pala Cedro this morning. There isn't alot of property in town. Most are scattered around the outskirts of the business district. It would be a fun drive just to look at the different options that would be available to you. Horse property seems abundant around there. I would check out the average temps! It isn't as hot as Redding but probably close. A little further out is oak Run also

home as well here -- and it's funny, the Rcom people gave me one more possible adjustment to try this morning, before i left for work -- i tried it, and the temp did come up a smidge, but i couldn't stay home to watch it, and asked them to PLEASE just send a replacement unit asap, even if i could get this one to work i didn't trust it -- and they agreed. so, a new one is on the way, and includes a fedex labeling slip so i don't have to pay to ship the bad one back.

so this afternoon i finally get home, and check the thing (which was left on after the last tweak, i had to run out the door) -- and voila, the internal temp is now showing as 99.3 -- almost exactly right! but with all the re-calibrations, it WILL NOT make them temp any higher (i tried to bump it to 99.5, & it refused to budge) -- so it's still screwed up, and i'll be happy to have a new one, but at least i can put the eggs in it & get them started while waiting for the replacement.

what a weird ordeal! and huge thanks to Deann for offering to loan me an extra incubator!
