California - Northern

HI guys!! :D

We've been crazy busy. I home school all 4 of my kids so my free time has been...well I haven't had any. We've been working on Fall preps for the farm. We got our new coop done, chickens moved. Almost done re-homing my culls. Moved my Silver Appleyard flock to their own housing so I am able to collect SA eggs that are pure. Woot! We have a predator eating our flock. It has taken nearly all my sizzles and silkies. We suspect a bobcat since it's hunting between 9-noon.

Anyway had to pop in! :D

HI!!!! we were wondering where you have been. Sorry about the predator losses happy that your beloved SAs have a place to call their own. Hope you can get your pics to show because they are so so beautiful!

Since we were discussing Barred Rocks and their stripes, I thought that I would share some pics of my poor molting 3 1/2 yr old hatchery Barred Rock hen named Memly. I wish that I had taken pics of her last week. She looked like a scroungy naked neck! As you can see, her neck feathers are coming back in and she no longer has a completely naked butt!

hehe it's been a riot here with the 50+ birds we have watching this all go down. Down...get it...haha But seriously we have one Buff Orpington that looks horrid. Poor girl.

So sorry to hear of your losses Amy. I miss your beautiful pictures.
Thanks guys! <3 The hard past is trying to figure out WHAT is taking them out. It matters in trapping strategies. :\

The Canada goose that my yearling geese adopted when it stumbled onto our property parentless and still covered in down.

My goose, Waffles, being silly.

Dumpling. Sweetest hen we have. Ron- this was from the set you gave us. I adore this girl. She will be bred with my CL boys for sweet natured, pretty egged Eggers. lol

I love the fact that they are still being called Amelias. Too funny. Amelia is watching from above with a proud beak smile.

she is!!! and it *is* descriptive, given how much these two fly (up into trees, onto the nesting box roof, etc.)

Laura, do you have a spare CL roo? A guy keeps calling me looking for a roo but I only have the 2 I am using.

actually, i do -- i have been waffling back and forth about whether to keep him or not. on the one hand, he's a total charmer & has good coloring (although a bit bright compared to the SOP), but on the other hand, i don't have the space to take FOUR breeds seriously (really should only focus on one!). so, if he's still looking, please tell the guy to get in touch with me.
