14 wellies have hatched, and I have pips in 2 more eggs right now. Nothing on the remaining 6 eggs yet.

Cackle-Joy,
Sorry to hear about your girls prolapse. I've never dealt with it myself but I hope it was just a shell-less/soft-shelled egg she passed or trying to pass. Since they are soft they are harder to push through the system.

I have found that most chickens like baths as long as the water is warm. We call it "Spa-day" here when getting ready to take the birds to fair. They do not like beak trimming much, trimming toenails is a 50/50 proposition.

Sound wonderful and my fingers are crossed for the 5 slow pokes. I'm envious of all who are hatching until I think about where I would put new chicks right now.

16 out now. I took the opportunity of super high humidity to candle the remaining eggs. 4 were mid term quitters (don't know how I missed that candling before lockdown, but I had a child helper), 1 is iffy but I think a late term quitter (not internally pipped) and one is internally pipped and cheeping but no external pip yet. The last 2 that hatched had some condensation in the shell, so I'm hoping this last one pips soon and gets a move on. I've got the humidity stabilized now.

Nice Hatch!

Thank you, I did double post this. Sign of desperation maybe? The feathers thing was weird. I noticed it doing afternoon chores. Had to run to parent-teacher conferences. Came home to finish chores and take a second look at the girl with wet drawers and found the prolapse thingy. Not experienced here. Had to run in the house and google "My chicken's vent is inside out." SIGH. Maybe she did lay a shell-less egg. We don't have puddles for them to get into. All the other bums are perfectly fluffy. I know because I ran out and checked with the flash light. All the girls think I've lost my marbles.
How are things this morning? Any better?

Wow that's a lot! That is a good outcome for sure. These are one of the breeds that are color sexable, right? Because REALLY, although I did this in April I did forget! I don't like getting old!

Quote: It's not 100%, but generally, you can sex them at hatch by their markings. Pullets will have eyeliner and a defined V on their head. Cockerels will have no eyeliner and a fuzzy V on their head. Of course, you have the "iffy" ones that hatch with eyeliner and not a defined V. On those, you just have to wait and see.

I heard a peep I heard a peep I HEARD A PEEP!!!!!

Can you tell yet what you might have on a boy/girl ratio?
