They should be fine without the light--Light draws predators. Even if they knock the waters over they will be ok for two days. Here is Laurens email. [email protected] I think the collars are 7 plus shipping. She got a little overwhelmed with orders so it might not be immediate, but she might be caught up now.
I'm thinking of seeing if she will wholesale them so I can have them for people around here who get attached to their roosters.
Ron, they even eat them at night when it is the only food option. They just love crumbles. But out in they yard everyone shares feed buckets and they go to the turkeys bucket. I know ducks can have too much protein so I worry a little . I know thats why No 1 got angel wing. But they eat grass all day long and mint, and a variety of plants, so I think they should be ok. I just want to make sure they get enough niacin. But its bloody annoying to pay TWICE as much for something they generally dislike!
We are going away OVERNIGHT this weekend! Im very excited. I have worked it out so everyone should be safe. The only problem could be the breese, whose coop is covered by netting, not wire. Nothing has ever tried to get in there with them, however. Im trying to decide if I should leave the lights on or off in the main coop. It does have a big window so they would get some light, but not a ton. I imagine that would make them less active while I am away, but i worry its not enough light for them to be happy. I could leave the light on 24/7 but then they will be hyper chickens and have more time to knock over waterers, etc. They would have light from around 9 to 4:30 naturally. Is that enough to eat drink and be merry?
Have fun!
