California - Northern

I empty my waterers every night and haul warm water out to fill them each morning. The chickens appreciate the warm water when they are cold.

You know sometimes people say things that are so simple...... I am astounded that the thought NEVER occurred to me before! Lol I swear I sometimes wonder how I made it to 43.....

was hoping for snow, but after about 6pm it started warming up, now 41° outside and raining with determination... at least the chickens won't freeze, for a change!

No snow, no rain!
I had to use the fire to stay warm today. I have not done that since I lived in the Sierra nevadas and had to know how to cook on a pot bellied stove in Jr high

it is easy to kick off with a broom. its 27 here now
my netting is doing great but the shade cloth I forgot to take off is going to come crashing down tonight
If only we could reach it

Oh no, that sounds like it is going to be a mess!

We have heard a couple of popping noises which means tree limbs breaking!

This always happens when we get snow!

we had power all night which is not normal here when it snows. It looks like we got about a foot but ill wait a bit to wander outside till I can better see.
I have to heat up some water for the chickens which will probably not last long as by tonight I am hearing 9 or 10 degrees

We got around 3 inches of snow. The older chickens thought the sky had fallen, but are now getting used to it, LOL. The juveniles ( like my kids) are out running around in the snow with out a care. You can just see a few of them in this pic.
