California - Northern

Hmmm…so I could get Blacks, Blues or Splashes you think? No lavs but splash/lav split? I'm just trying to get some pretty OE and want to try it out. Wish I had some pretty Blue AM to cross the Blue Copper Marans with. But the Lavs are all I have now. I figured Blue to Blue would be best, but since they're just OE I wanted to try. I put 2 in the bator so we'll see what I get. Thank you so much ChickNmamma

You will get Black or Blue. All children will be split to lavender. No Splash because both parents have to carry Blue to have Splash. F2 (second generation) crossed back to the blue father can give you Splash from the Blue girls. Lavs are two copies of lavender over black. Have fun.

Thanks for the link

only sometimes I get "paralysis of analysis" practically when it comes to choosing what breeds to get with limited space.

I was set on the Norwegian Jaehon for a white layer but now you've gone and messed me up with a source of California Gray's. I had forgotten they were sex linked with is very nice. My hope was to breed whatever I got into a sex linked blue egg layer over a 5 year or so time period. I'm up for advice.
So many chickens, so little space.
Sorry to mess up your process

We all have our favorite breeds and we all have our reasons for having them as favorites. I like the productivity of these guys as well as their fun and friendly nature. I am going to breed them eventually. Too many roosters right now but one day.. Another thing to remember is that it isn't a super long term commitment to each individual chicken and eventually you will get to experience all the breeds you want to.

My Bresse boys are laying down quite a bit. Not as energetic. Don't see any funny poops. Possible cocci? I did pre treat but only once. What is full treatment?

Corid Dosage:
all chicks should be treated there is 9 species of this disease and ONLY 2 that have blood in the stool. Critical time is when chicks are between 4-16wks. of age.
chicks need to be treated when they are 3-4wks of age. CORID 20% POWDER....1.5TSP. PER GALLON FOR 5 DAYS and then another 5 days at 1/2 tps per gallon.
and to repeat it every 3wks if they have symptoms until they reach 9mos. of age.

Good eye for catching This!

Thanks Ron. I'll go do it now. I stare at them a lot, so something looked off
