She made it!! My CLB sweetheart girl made it!!! I'm so thankful! And so excited! What a nerve racking experience, but oh so awesome too! And I didn't intervene.

3 lovely little chicks all for me!

Thanks for all your support on this forum! I couldn't have done it without you!

Two more pipped. Two more nothing yet!

I'm thrilled!!

YEAH!!!!!! Hopefully they will all be out soon!

That is silly for them not to want to sell in state.
if its a project they care about then they would need as many breeders working on them to get them perfected and standardized as they could get.
Until then they can call them a project but most on the ameraucana thread would probably just call them easter eggers.
sounds pretty though.

That was my thinking, but I don't know much about projects. If I were breeding/showing I would be just as proud to have a bird from my lines do well as I would if I still owned it.

Was it a mistake to give my aunt's broody bantam and lf eggs? Is there anything we should do as we get closer to the hatch date?
As long as you didn't give her too many that she can't cover them, she's fine.

Many people have chickens hatch ducks, guineas or turkeys. The only problem that can happen is when you have a duck hatch chickens, the mama duck wants to take them for a swim.

I have one black pullet growing out (she's about 3 months old now) who hatched from an egg from H & H Poultry, who supplied some of the photos on that page -- i can't wait to see what she looks like as an adult! although, all my other marans are birchens (except for one duckwing 3-month-old who is still gender uncertain), so not quite sure what to do with her, other than enjoy her beautiful black feathers!

And isn't that ultimately what we are all keeping chickens for? We enjoy looking at them and spending time with them......learning their personalities. The eggs are just a bonus!

Thanks Happy Chooks but OOPS! I did NOT say that correctly....I gave the broody (LF Orp X) the following: Two bantam and 3 LF eggs. was THAT a mistake?

It's official! I have a chick!

The one that hatched is the one who pipped this am.

I think the one who pipped 24 hours ago may be needed help

it zipped a tiny bit of the way but hasn't mad any more progress.....

My humidity was probably too low until this afternoon.

I got it up to 70 now.
YEAH!!! Nice pic of a staggered hatch set up with the turner left in and the eggs in a plastic carton!

Just watch her, it may or may not be. Sometimes bantam chicks are slower to start running, sometimes they are faster. depends on if the mother watches all her chicks or jsut the favored one.

I just want to say one thing about Phang. She always does it with her auctions, but I know people contact her and as she has ad usually will waive it. Its easier to type one restriction then confuse people, and if they want to get them anyway, they can go from there. I know these eggs usually sell for a LOT more on peoples websites, and you cant grudge people trying to pay for feed IMO. She does a fantastic job with the thread, is a good moderator, and goes out of her way to help people on things she is not required to. So don't be too upset with her.

I have been following those buy sell threads for about 2 years now and she has always been steller.

A quail has escaped and is hiding behind my desk. I can hear it dust bathing on fallen paper having a solo quail party back there.

Does anyone here have BCM eggs available? Someone contacted me, but I don't raise BCM. If someone has eggs available, and if you are willing to ship can you please PM me with your email address and I will forward it.

thanks,

I was going to ask how to handle a chick that comes out 2 days ahead of the others in regards to food and water during lock down? But now let me rephrase my question since he's out and hopping around and several of the Splash x Blue Marans are piping. And 4 of the Splash x EE and coming also. And fast!
So what did I do wrong or right to make them hatch early?
I would take it out of the bator and put it in the brooder. Chicks running around the incubator playing foot ball with the eggs and pooping is not ideal. My Polish always hatch a day earlier than everyone else.
