I know its sad. Go on the emergency thread and post. I hear silkies can be sensitive. Other silkie owners may know some tricks. Just put them on newspaper and cover the open areas. do you have a thermometer in your brooder?

Nikki, you posted earlier that you were in 4-H, see if your leader can assist you. The emergency section is an excellent idea also! Changing out the waterers is a good idea also, scrub them well and refill with warm water.

Just a newbie from Chico saying Hello!

Welcome, Kaylish! I am right up the hill from you in Paradise

You can sprout wheat in 1 set of buckets if you dont mind feeding at different levels of doneness. It wont work if you want long grass but if you just want sprouts and roots it works great! Ff can be done the same way. It does need somewhere not cold however.

I just started sprouting for this year this week too cold in the house over winter. I stuck it out in the new greenhouse! I need to start ff again today!
Should we bring info on our systems to the party? If someone can bring a drill I can try to get my hands on a lot of buckets!

That's a great idea Shantih. I have a drill press right here in the barn back by the chickens. I would love to have any of the people coming to the party bring anything they would like to share. I love learning new things & sharing with other chicken lovers makes it so much more fun. I made my first outdoor trays after the last party when George & Debi & Monet brought theirs as a raffle prize. I didn't win it but I did however copy it & made several.
My son and I got very proficient at making pen tops out of 2" x 2" & stretched coated poultry wire for a fraction of the cost of the 6' x 6' chainlink panels that I was buying at Home Depot. Last time I bought panels they were $69.99 for plain panels & $139.99 for the one with the door. Aaron & I matched the solid panels with our wood & wire ones for under $25 a panel & made lots of them. I use them to put tops on all my pens so unwanted strangers can't visit my breeding pens. We could put one of them out with a materials list for anyone wanting to learn to put them together too. The more we learn to do for ourselves the more we can save. It would be nice for our hobbies not to always be about how much you can spend.

I won one of those! That reminds me to go plant some sprouted wheat in the one in with the silkies...
