I just looked at the instructions for my incubator and it sayd to keep the temp at 100
Hope you see some pips soon!Incubation temperature may be slightly low and ventilation may be an issue. Dead air spots around the incubator or plugged vents in the incubator. For Brinsea ocatagons, make sure the vent is all the way open. For foam incubators, make sure that the bottom vents (my genesis has a bunch of them) are not obstructed or clogged from previous hatches. +humitity= -oxygen. There is a ratio but the point is that the higher the humidity is in the incubator the more likely the chicks are to die from lack of oxygen--in the shell! Most of the issues I've had with them seem to be day 19+. I've had most with partial to full yolks absorbed, but many seem to be mal-positioned. The eggs are very big though. I'll weigh one in a little bit. At this point I have one that hatched last night (in one of the smaller Orp eggs), one is pipped, and one is rocking. -day 21 was at 9 this morning. The Orp that already hatched was the first egg to pip, and took close to a full 24 hours to hatch.
I am very near Oroville, but can't have roosters here....If anyone near Oroville (Table Mountain Rd. area) wants some cockerels, I know someone who has some available. Probably free, I think. I gave her some Buckeyes a few years ago. She lets them roam & breed, doesn't do any selection or culling. They are extremely friendly and people oriented. My 3 year old grandson picks them up and carries them around and they don't seem to mind. The oldest male follows him like a dog and has never been aggressive to people. The males are stating to spar with each other, so she needs to thin the flock. PM me for contact info.

The exact reason I spent 40 years saying I would never have chickens! They are opportunistic cannibals, I tell you!
You should 100% have black solider flies. It would make a tremendous difference for you and you are close enough to our climate youd be able to grow them 9 months out of the year. Feed them to the breese for tastier chicken. We needed a little of the cold weather that the rest of the country has had. Well maybe not that cold but cold enough to kill the buggies. I bet it is going to be a bad year for fleas and flies, too! I better put my order in for fly predators!
So cute!
Quote by Audio51I would not have a problem with that, but I would have to find someone to do them in! I still have that one Red SL I need to add to the freezer but could not bring myself to do it. I think they know when they are not pulling their weight...they become the most friendly one of the flock....What about chicken dinner?
