That's a good suggestion! I think that I need to keep one or two so I can see what color of eggs they lay!

The egg color could be close to an Isbar green.

Could you lay it on it's side in the carton....with the little pointy dividers holding it up?
That is a good idea. but the carton will suck humidity out at this point and drop temperatures.

Definitely set them upright next hatch.

It IS upright in a carton - that's why I'm worried. Humidity is stable at 58% -- too low for those slow zippers?

Even stuck in a carton?
Yes, the chick will turn in a circle inside the shell--called zipping. The only time that does not happen is if they get stuck and that usually happens if the chick did not absorb the yolk correctly. Low Temperature during incubation is the most common cause.

Your chick is doing great!

58% is a bit low but still fine. after these two hatch, either add water or add a storage container with a sponge in it filled with water to the top of the sponge.

It is possible that happened.  No way to know for sure most likely though.  The important thing is to find the source of the blood and  treat as needed.
i just looked on then hens and roos amd i dont see any blood on anyone. could someone of cut their foot on tge wood? No one acts hurt. here a pic of tr blood in tge nest box maybe someone can tell me where it couldve came from

That would be cool! See, I need to keep one or two! The green egg pic that I posted the other day is from a mix who is 1/4 CL, 1/4 EE, 1/2 brown egg layer. Her eggs are beautiful!
