Mine are homeschooled. And my daughter at 4 glared at me when I asked her something one day. Stomped her feet and screamed. "DON"T TALK TO ME LIKE THAT!" She then proceeded to her room and slammed the door.

Me: What the heck was that about and where did she learn that from?

First of I never do that. She sounded like my mother, but they have barely seen my folks and I don't recall that ever happening when we did see them. Plus we don;t have TV they only see movies so I know what they are watching.

I did put hr in private school for a semester after that but boy she did pick up on the other kids tudes. I honestly think some of it is picked up behavior and other is genetic.

It is possible that happened.  No way to know for sure most likely though.  The important thing is to find the source of the blood and  treat as needed.
i just looked on then hens and roos amd i dont see any blood on anyone. could someone of cut their foot on tge wood? No one acts hurt. here a pic of tr blood in tge nest box maybe someone can tell me where it couldve came from

I would not have a problem with that, but I would have to find someone to do them in! I still have that one Red SL I need to add to the freezer but could not bring myself to do it. I think they know when they are not pulling their weight...they become the most friendly one of the flock....
I am processing all 3 of my October boys on Saturday. I have never done it but on of my colleagues has and we are doing it at his place. I have 2 RS and a Del that I am contemplating making stew from in the fall. I hope to hatch replacements for all 3 in the meantime.

I have 6 that need to go in about 10 weeks. Sooner if they start bugging me too much....

Mine have started mounting my hens and they are such spazzes. Plus they sleep on the shelf above the nest boxes and poop in them so every morning I am having to deal with that. I thought of you saying "16 weeks or when they start getting too irritating" and we are past that now

Thanks for the recipes. I downloaded them all and put them in a folder. Not sure what I am making on Sunday yet but it will be FRESH!

My question for the day, to be considered an Easter Egger, does a chicken need to have Ameraucana in its background or just lay a blue/blue green/green colored egg? I have several Pita Pinta/Cream Legbar mix chicks and I'm wondering how to market them. Having not raised any of this mix to maturity, I guess that I am just assuming that they will lay a green egg.

I would call them "Colored Egg Layers" and play up the rarity and other charms of their parentage. Lots of people want cool looking unique birds and colored eggs I bet they will be all over them

@chiqita thanks to you too for the chicken recipe. Do you think Beets could replace rutabegas?

Quote: Thanks for the "Heads Up". I have the perfect place for them based on that info. One wall of the chicken pen is the side of our shed and there were 2 of the giant hooks for hanging ladders on. We don't use them for ladders now and they are too high for the chickens to get to. It would be very easy to put the stickey stuff around the bottom of them.

Maybe someone with more incubating experience knows for sure, but I remember reading that still air incubators require a higher temp, like 102, but don't quote me on that.

-Kathy
101.5 degrees for Still Air incubators.

It IS upright in a carton - that's why I'm worried. Humidity is stable at 58% -- too low for those slow zippers?
Mine hatch fine at that humidity in cartons. Let them be! Go clean house or something if you can't stand waiting. It's a very slllllloooooooooooowwwwww process sometimes.

It is a family run daycare/preschool, so my daughter has 2 cousins little boy 5 and little girl, 3. She's right in the middle so the 5 year old teaches her all sorts of bad stuff then she passes it along to her younger cousin.
