I will be eager to here the results!

Speaking of processing... I picked up 12 baby Cornish cross today. They should be ready to process in about 6 weeks. I have one in the bunch that doesn't look like a Cornish x though. It's weird. It's all yellow, but it's small and it stands straight up on it's legs. (unlike the others, that stand "normally". I don't know if something is wrong with it, or it's not a Cornish x. I'll try and get some pics.

It sounds like a red star cockerel. They are used as packing peanuts--extra chicks to provide warmth. If so, it will grow a lot slower.

I got them from a feed store, so who knows.... ;). I'll know for sure in about a week, when the CC's are 2x the size of the rest of the chicks.

But it will be a great tasting boy when it does grow out.

@ronott1 I didn't see it in your signature but I will subscribe to the link. Was actually able to watch two videos on dispatching today but am disturbed by the twitching....they still look so lifelike and aware. We have a high power pellet pistol and because it is less hands on the lopper method appeals to me. I would just worry about sharpness. I think we are going with the sharp knives on sat.

@Audio51 I need to search for more of his videos. I couldn't tell what he was doing but he got good results for sure.

@CackleJoy and Liz Congrats on the pips...

My mom is almost 85, She doesn't really show her age but on Christmas she promised to buy me "what I really wanted" for my b-day 12-22 and Christmas. I told her I would think about it and last week I told her I had decided on the Genesis so many of you have had success with. I told her I would shop them and we decided to order it today when she came by for her weekly visit. We spent about 10 minutes talking about how maybe my spraddle legged chicks would have done better not in the LG. So today we had our weekly visit and she never mentioned it even though we talked about gift buying and she brought up how she has a hard time remembering Tom's birthday. Anyway tonight I just feel sad. not b/c of a forgotton gift the Genesis. I can buy that on my own but because it is symbolic of the fact that my mommy is getting to an age where things that were once paramount in her mind are easily forgotten. @capayvalleychick has met my mom a couple of times. She does really well but this was really telling today.

Sorry to be a downer...I love the pip news. Keep it coming!!! Any anyone else who has pics of fowl as winter weather gear, I would like to see those too.
