None of my Langshans have pipped yet. I hatched one in my last hatch but it was one of two pullet eggs. It didn't even pip until day 22. I'm wondering if they are late hatchers. I guess that I will find out! I have more of their eggs in the next two hatches. That should give me a pretty good idea of how they hatch!
Well, the Pita Pinta/Cream Legbar mixes are good hatchers! 4 have hatched, 3 have pips, and only 1 shows no action yet. The brown Pita Pinta or PP mix eggs only have 1 pip in 7 eggs. The Langshan eggs show no activity yet. Day 21 is at 11 PM tonight so there is still time for those lazy chicks!I'm cheering for you Debi.....
Hmm two were the size of the day 18 the other was the size of the day 14. i thought it was a bit high too but didnt focus on it to much. the 3rd pic on here shows kinda the gooey membrane but when i cracked it the membrane was like glued to the shell and was really mucusy and gooey
Mine is in a dog kennel in the garage. He must be sleeping in today because he usually crows as soon as he hears me up in the morning. He must be worn out from all the crowing he did yesterday. We spent the day in the yard working on our new Pita Pinta chicken coop. For some reason, he crows more when my DH is in the yard. He has never shown any aggression towards any of us but my DH sure brings out the crow in him. It must be a top rooster in the yard kind of thing! My roosters wake me up, doesn't matter what time it is, if they're crowing, I'm up, lol.

Way cute!!! Not $900 worth of cute though.....
Quite inventive of you. I don't know that I would have thought that up.....LOL Good job.!!!!!No. I made them because the poor chicks toes curl up. I put little foam circles on the bottom, and then band-aids over the top - so they stay on.
Ok my first hatch from my Seramas went really well! I put 19 eggs on lockdown and 15 hatched....4 didn't pip at all. One of the chicks hatched all sticky like covered in yolk? I tried to wash it off with warm water but feathers are still really stiff looking. Is there anything else I can do?

@chickee thank you for all your help!![]()
Me too..............I take ribbing about my "collecting" all the time, but I love being able to repurpose things.....LOLLOL! ya that's how it works. Or like the fact that I saved my original egg turner for 20 sum odd years. throw it away cause I'll "never use it". then 6 months later discover i need it. so when people ask me why i keep things so long, i tell them "as soon as I throw it away, i'll need it"
I'll say.........darling if money was no object but building it yourselves with salvage parts would cut that way back.
I tend to be an early riser anyway but did get sleepy a little earlier last night. I had had a tiring day. We had a garden club luncheon for one of the garden clubs I belong to & Cari & I always decorate & set a table for 8. She did honey bees & I did a big birdhouse/feeder. Its a lot of fun but a lot of work & I poop out easier than I did years back. We have been doing this annually for years. One of my "chicken lovin" friends from Madera came up & attended. By the time it was over we cleaned up & got back home I was wiped out.....LOL. Oli always goes with us & this time 3 of her friends went too. Maybe you & Monet might like to go sometime.Hey, Karen & Kathy! Did the time change mess up your internal clock, too? I don't know if it was the time change or the chicks hatching but I went to bed early and then couldn't sleep after 3 hours. I finally got out of bed at 5 and made coffee. Now I'm waiting for chicks to hatch and for more posts on BYC!I'll have to continue reading the Dumbest Things People Have Said About Your Chickens/Eggs/Meat thread that Ron posted the link for.![]()
