I have a silly question: what is the difference between Easter Eggers & Americaunas?

Ees are usually (like many hatchery birds) were mixed with something to increase egg laying. But blue egg genes are tricky once you mess with them so they can now lay a variety of different colored eggs.

Well here goes,
12 d'Anver
6. SDW phoenix bantams
12. Partridge Rock bantams
1. BBS ORP bantam, if she lays tomorrow I add it also.

Just waiting for temp to come back up after adding today's eggs. For an LG still air not feeling to bad, last nights low was 99 and a high of 100. Just need it to stay that steady!

The pigeons have their second egg today also!
Well, you have a fun hatch going!! Man are you going to have a bunch of adorable bantam chicks running around! I am envious!

I've got quite a few young kids joining poultry for the first time this year. Should be able to keep the best and rehome the extra boys. They really want quail OEGB's but I don't dub. I don't want to raise something they couldn't use the second year in conformation and showmanship. These breeds won't look alike at hatching so no surprises:fl

Fridays!!!

Who has chicks hatching this weekend? I have 26 eggs set to hatch. Tomorrow night it will officially be 21 days. Of course, I'm looking for pips already! These Pita Pinta/PP mix chicks seem to hatch a little early.

My 2 batches are due next week. I consider these test batches because fertility has been low. I ordered a Brinsea high intensity candler but it won't be here til the 20th.
I have 2 pipped this morning out of 7 eggs (was 8 but when I candled at right before lockdown one looked clear). They are both BCM that a friend asked me to hatch for her. Today is Day 20, but the shells are very light so that might be why they seem a bit early. These have been in the Brinsea the whole time. I had it set at 99.0 and 35% until about a week ago. I was seeing that 100.0 and 30% might be better so adjusted it to that. Moved them to the Farm Innov on the evening of the 12th.

Interesting all the different formulas of temps & humidity we all have. When I was using my Brinsea Ova 190 I settled on 100.5 & 50 humidity & got my best hatches in it with those settings with the BCM hatching slower than the rest.

It is interesting. I've decided to just fill the numbered trays and let the humidity be what it is. With my Genesis and tray 1 filled, it stays at 46-50% and with 1 & 2 filled, it is at 63%. Temps stay between 99.5 and 100.3. My GQF cabinet hatcher stays at 52% with the water container filled and no sponges. I have been hatching in my Genesis so not sure what the humidity would be with the added sponges. The temp in the cabinet stays at right around 100. I am getting my first FBCM eggs for the Easter hatch along. I am wondering if I need to do anything different with them or just stay the course.

Edited to add that my last hatch was 80% so I have room for improvement!
