Pita Pintas (Ron, have you ever noticed that some of the chicks are yellow with black and some are white with black? It is very noticeable with this group of chicks.)

Awwww...how adorable!!!!

They are out foraging in the sun most of the day, but this particular hen could have problems with processing the natural Vit D. I have to take 10,000 units/day myself for this reason. The average supplement is only 2000. But I think the ones I have are pils, not the liquigels. I'm sure she would love getting an extra goody every day. She is one of 2 that are very friendly.

X2!

Since I am allergic to the sun and have to limit my exposure, I take Vit D. I found a company that has it in olive oil. I only need to take a few drops per day so the bottle lasts for a long time. I ordered it online and it came very quickly.

A few more pics of my almost 3 week old chicks.

Can you say Bresse boy?! The blue is a Langshan and the black and white are the Pita Pinta/Cream Legbar crosses.

Blue Langshan, black Langshan boy, Pita Pinta/Cream Legbar cross, splash Langshan, blue Langshan

And my 6 week old chicks (blue Pita Pinta/Langshan crosses, Bresse, and 1 RIR boy who still doesn't have feathers on his back or tail). You can sure tell the boys from the girls at this age!

so sad.
Oh that is very sad! Send him in to UCDavis if you can. Sometimes it is just so nice to have closure and find out that it wasn't anything you could change.
