Cuteness overload is right! How absolutely darling! Now are these the ones that lay eggs with a purple tinted bloom?

That looks like it would be very easy to use. I will order some next payday and see if it helps. Thanks for the link!
I have 1 blue egg layer (a really pale light blue) that I bought as a day-old so no idea what color the shell was - I'm fairly certain she's a Cream Legbar. The other 2 day-old that looked like her have beautiful olive eggs - one has neat brown speckles. They are CL x Penedescenca and they look really similar to the pure CL except with white ear skin patches instead of teal.It helps to know what color the eggs are hatching from. If a TRUE Ameraucana breeder knows his/her stock, there will be no brown egg surprises. Blue egg layers bred with blue eggs laying (genetic) roosters, will produce blue egg layers. However, GREEN is a different story. If there are green eggs in the mix then yes, brown eggs can pop up. Especially in some of the wheaten varieties as they used Salmon Favarolles to create that color. So sometimes feathered legs and/or brown eggs can pop out. Again, a breeder should know their stuff. Ask good questions, it will help you get what you want.
All that said, if you are only after blue - turquoise or green tint eggs - then there is a hatchery that consistently sells such egg layers. Murray McMurray has suppliers that do a good job with their blue egg laying EE's. All my blue egg layers (in the breakfast makers house) are from there. My avatar shows some of the blue eggs.
So sorry to hear, I was just thinking about him when I came home and checked my subscriptions.Thank you everyone for your help with my sick rooster, unfortunately he died this morningso sad.
I saw a photo of Ron's UofA enormous blue eggs! I've got blue egg envy for sure! I think crossing one with AM's to increase egg size would make a nice EE. I thought Polish were ALL about the entertainment value.I have 1 blue egg layer (a really pale light blue) that I bought as a day-old so no idea what color the shell was - I'm fairly certain she's a Cream Legbar. I have a rumpless Araucana (wheaten) that reminds me of a guinea - I'm just getting eggs from her - same light shade of blue as the CL.
I think I want to add a UofA blue to my flock.
I love a mixed color egg basket.
I have 2 EEs that both lay green eggs. Out of 8 day-old chicks I bought & raised, 3 were green eggs layers, the rest laid brown eggs.
My Welsummer lays beautiful terracotta-colored eggs with teeny speckles.
My 2 Marans (1 Cuckoo, 1 Black Copper) have slightly darker eggs than the Wellie but not by much. Think I'll search more about feed for them to improve color.
I have a couple of Polish for entertainment value as well as their white eggs.
You all have me thinking about them purplish eggs too.
Hmm...
They are out foraging in the sun most of the day, but this particular hen could have problems with processing the natural Vit D. I have to take 10,000 units/day myself for this reason. The average supplement is only 2000. But I think the ones I have are pils, not the liquigels. I'm sure she would love getting an extra goody every day. She is one of 2 that are very friendly.
Mine are out all day too, but I figured this one needed a little extra help. Odd that it seemed to "fix" her after 4-5 days of Vit D, maybe just got things in gear. I'm watching her carefully to see if it repeats. She goes crazy for kale, so I've been giving her extra out of the garden. My guys don't like calf manna.![]()
The Ca gluconate is what Dr. Pol gives dairy cows that have milk fever. Do you inject it? And how do you get them to eat the pills? Mine are suspicious of new things.
Yes - my silver laced polish was named oh-so-appropriately "Goofy" by my DH. The other is white with black specks here & there, no name yet.I thought Polish were ALL about the entertainment value.Forgot they laid white eggs. A mixed egg basket is SO fun!![]()
