Ok, i need help with shade tarps.
I'm looking for something that will give nice shade, but be breathable.
i've seen some online but not sure if they'll make the area hotter than it is already.
Anyone use any shade cloths or shade tarps?
I use the stuff you get at Lowes, but not sure it will be enough when it gets really warm.

Thanks! I have never had meat birds before so didn't know if they "age" the same. Have to make sure I stay unattached from them. I will be reviewing processing videos and info....

They grow way (WAY) faster, but their feathering is similar to a "regular" chick of the same age. They get kinda naked and patchy looking as they grow (because their bodies are growing faster than their feathers.

I have also heard that food and water should be as far apart as possible to enhance body/muscle tone. I've never raised them but I was told that was how to get best results. Others here will know more I'm sure.

You can by 40% shade cloth at the Box stores or a local nursery. Works great on Plants , people and chickens

I do. Bought the green shade cloth at Home Depot and my husband cut it into panels and attached it to metal rods so it hangs nice and I can roll it up or down easily. It breaths but keeps the rain from blowing into my pens. I then used foundation stakes to hold it out from the sides of the pens for airflow.

You can always double it up for more shade.

Good to know! I will make sure I do that when I get them moved to larger quarters. I have a 4' x 4' section of one of my aviaries that I think I will move them to in a few days.
