Kim I happened on your farm website a while ago but just made the connection based on your signature.

How old would that be that I should expect something like that.

I never wrote down when they first crowed and don't remember. It also varies with the strain. I would say, you will be able to tell sex sometime within 5-10 weeks of age. 4-5 months you will know for certain.

Well they are 5 weeks today (arrived at the feed store on 2/26)

Yesterday they dumped over their water in the box so made a right mess of the bedding. They got a new larger water container because they were going outside soon and since the temp box I was using during cleanings got converted to a brooder for the Buffs. I put them in a pop up laundry basket. They didn't make much of a fuss about it because they could see through the holes I guess. I half expected for them to topple it over and create even more fun, but they all sat still and watched as I cleaned up the mess. (Needed to change the bedding anyway) They even seemed quite content to be removed from the basket and put back in the now dry box. However I think we are all looking forward to the outside move at this point. Just a couple more nights and I will get my garage back (for about a week till the buffs are ready to move there)

OMG! RON! You have an Educator Badge! Wow! Congrats! You work so hard on here. They noticed.

Thanks Kim!

It is amazing to see that badge on there. It does not seem real yet.

They should be able to go outside at 6 weeks old. The weather is supposed to warm up again too.

They are so cute when they get to go outside!

Just be careful with the wet bedding combined with warm temps. It is a hotbed for Cocci.
