Thanks and guess what she messaged me back!! I am not getting my hopes up again yet but still I am glad she got back in touch. She only can get on line via her phone so says she didn't see my messages on FB. I asked her for her phone # and gave her mine hope that facilitates things.

I am getting hatching eggs from a gal in Chico at some point so I will be sharing lots o pics. Hope you still are fascinated by then
huzzah! get a dog crate, cover it, and go get that darn broodie NOW! ( well when you get home) The other folder on FB is annnoying!
@Flowers of Abba I don't know that much about high altitude hatching, i just know its different. But it cant hurt to try the book trick. the only thing is the eggs in the middle don't move as much, so id try to move them out of the middle to the edge like once a week. I'm sorry about the quail :(. How are micro and friends doing? Roxi is already flirting with going broody again, bad thing!

Note to self,

Never trust Silkies to find their way back to their coop while free-ranging in heavy downpour.

I had to drag in 12 soaked, grumpy birdies.
Too bad there isn't a video.

chiqita says the same thing about them.

I had a couple of Silkies, a show girl and a Sizzle? They made great pets for someone else. They are really cute though!

Wish I would've taken a video. My cockerel was standing in the coop doorway getting his crest soaked. He kept shaking his head like he didn't understand why he was getting wet when he was in the coop.

Gotta love those mentally challenged chookies.

pelting rain and hail here on Sonoma Mtn, and my three campines were out strolling when it hit -- they at least seem to have the sense to stay under the eaves of the chicken coops, but don't seem to have the sense to go back in the open door of their own coop! (they do LOVE to be out free-ranging...)

edit: well, two have some sense, it turns out -- the third does not.

I hope to get her a week from Wednesday. On Mon and Tuesday I need to reorganize the space in the feed shed/quarantine shed to make it more homey for them. Now that I am a master builder...haha..I should be able to manage something way more functional than what I have now.

I might keep them in the house for a few days...Would that make for a smoother transition. They obviously won't be meeting any of the other chickens for a month but...ok to be honest I just want to let them get used to me in the house before I put them outside. If this happens this will be the most petrified of my chickens and I am anxious.

TBH, a broodie silkie is only going to be worried about her chicks. She will yell at you a bit, just semi hand feed for a while and you will be gtg. they LOVE bathrooms when they are broody, but broody poo! AAARG
