I have nutridrench and polyvisol.  Which would you use?   There was poop in the enclosure.  Her nest itself was poop free which I took to mean she was getting up to eat and drink.  I didn't notice a broody poop.  I have no sense of smell and I was focused on getting her loaded up.

I will do a better assessment when I get home at lunch

Thanks!  She felt light but I am used to LF and she is my first Bantam. Plus our interactions have been limited since I picked her up just last night.  I will bring her in the house and weigh her this evening plus I will get pics taken

Thank you all for your advice.  I found a local CL add for Bantam chicks.  Something will work out.

Id give her nutri. Mollassas seems good for birds and easy to ad on/in live food. Nutri seems very palatable to my adults if it is squirted on top they go for it first.

Im not a personal fan of poly for adults. It is for human babies and they have different requirments. I think its great because you can get it anywhere and it is concentrated . But for every day I use poultry stuff. Specifically I have gone nutri crazy since I had crazy sucess qith wry problems with it.

Has anyone used red cell? I see it mentioned in silkie circles but it has a lot of iron. Im not sire why we do no iron however I just kinda repeat that part heh.

I know a couple people expressed interest in learning how to process chickens. If you are still interested, please pm me. Thanks Deann
It is great that you are willing to help with learning how to process!

I will be processing the last two this weekend then the Cross Beak and his pals will get to go out to the Garage!

Lol my black penedesenca where shipped Monday afternoon so maybe they will be here tomorrow. Ok I promise after the crele hatch I will be ready. I am trying to get a few Empordanesa to throw in with the ones you send me.

now I can ship you some eggs if you want. I can put some in the Rcom Friday and ship Saturday if you have room
thanks !

nice. I may have to buy one for my office

My incubators are full now but would like to hatch some Emps later.

I have some Partridge Penes in the incubator and some of them are developing. I am going to move the Horstman RIRs out to the layer pen this weekend and have only The Partridge Penes in there. Brand likes the big red girls too much....One of them has tread marks and those eggs are always fertile. I can start collecting eggs on Monday.

Actually he lives in a pen by himself (he crows alot) if hes moulting would giving extra protien help?

I multi quoted the wrong post--meant to get the one about him being a year old.

To be safe, I would dust him with 7 and then again in a week.

They can molt at a year old but usually in the Fall. It has been a weird winter and spring though so maybe his clock is thrown off. As long as he is healthy I would not worry too much.

Well I see this ad in craigslist for "Pink Egg Layers", I could not get in my car fast enough to buy some of his chicks. I left with 4 fluffy butts with the hope that I might see a pink egg in the nesting box in the near future!
Inquiring minds must know what his breed combo is!

I need to go back and correct that post. It will be hard to find though...

I should have said up right in the turner and then hatched upright in an egg flat at hatch. Yes, they need to be turned. Just the normal amount though. Turning for the first week needs to be very careful since shipped eggs are very fragile. There is a group on BYC that has a theory about resting shipped eggs in the incubator without turning--that it is not a good thing. I am trying to stay away from all of that though-- Their passion for it is something to see

The chicks need to be encouraged to pip up into the air space and they can be confused if the egg rolls and then pip into a vein at hatch.
So I let these last eggs rest in the incubator a few days w/o turning and then turned on the turner on day 5 (for some day 6). The development is so poor on these shipped eggs that I don't figure I've done any damage :) Next time I'll use the book method starting on Day 2. Then turn on the turner day 5. I think the turner may add unnecessary vibrations.

Impulsive buy. I have 24 super rare colored show quality d'uccle eggs coming from Georgia tomorrow ...
Please keep us posted! My son wants self-blue or blue-mottled. Are you getting any of those?

my peeps are happy with the scraps from the organic co-op. Half the strawberries were delivered rotten! I sorted all day but they got all the ones I could not save. And the in-between will become strawberry, and strawberry rhubarb jam

I just hope they last until tomorrow because my pink stained fingers are pooped for the day.
Sounds yummy

I think that the turner vibration is bad for them during the first week too.

the Brinsea auto turn cradle and the Rcom turner seem to be better on them.

make sure the eggs are big end up and not at an angle. Improper angle during the first 2 days is associated with embryo death at 5 to 7 days according to the incubation troubleshooter:
