I also did some candling last night. I know, WAY too early, it was only day three but I couldn't wait for a first peek.

Three of the five Ayam Cemani eggs have obvious veining!!!!!

Yea! Super exciting!

Got a message yesterday that my Cream Legbars pullets had hatched!

So, of course, I ran home and got the brooder set up in the garage.
Still waiting to see if she gets any BCMs this hatch

or if I have to wait a week. I'm going to have to wait a few more days for the Sussex I want anyways...

@casportpony
I am sorry, I had to google that.   We had a boxer with liver cancer and took her to the vet for draining...what did you do for your hen?

@lizanne
good luck!

@debs_flock
congratulations  I hope you get a trio!!!

So my new girl bailed on the eggs.  I think that is better for her. She drank a bunch yesterday ate a bit and pooed.  She met my H  who said she is "very cute"...she is she is bearded and only slightly crested her head is black and her body is silver grey.   She is calm but I can tell she is not comfortable yet.   I will keep giving her treats and talking sweet.

Now about getting her a friend....

My son may be coming up in a week and if he is I might ask him to pick up the other silkie girl that was at the KOA with her
or
Maybe she will accept and raise a couple of Petunia's chicks if I give them to her..this would be the perfect solution for our  situation
or
I have a friend who has a 15 w/o Australorp I can have.

Thoughts??

She will be happier with the friend she lived with before imo. Fatten her up when my broodys quit they go vack again in a month or less.

From MO to CA.................left on Saturday, arrived on Monday morning. The two that have no veining so far (and three days is way too early to call them off), one has a saddled air cell and the other is a quite porous shell. I know the eggs ranged in age from 3-7 days old. I'll take another look at them tomorrow night on day 5.

Hi Deb, I hope your AC eggs are fertile and you have a very successful hatch! So nice to have these rare birds in N.Ca. wish you best of luck!

I wanted to share couple of photos of the eggs some of my hens lay; or, I should say: they gift me with. I do not breed for egg color; the color palette and the patterns were a delightful surprise. The small ones are Ko Shamo eggs; which they lay surprisingly large eggs for their tiny size. I took the photos under different natural light so to give a better view.
