Good question! Hopefully, someone with more experience with broodies will have an answer for you.Another broody drama question...So my two original girls are both on day 18. The 3rd girl (interloper and coat tail rider) has been making a pest of herself by getting into nests with the other two. Now that I have moved one of them, there is a nest for her so I hope she stops that.
I have eggs for her but I am starting to wonder if it would be best for coop harmony to give her chicks about the same age as the ones from this hatch will be. I would prefer not to and to just give her the Del eggs I have saved. am I over thinking again?
Thanks in advance
I had one broody pullet then a week later two more joined her and then another week later two more joined them with a couple more thinking about it! All of a sudden, I am broody rich!!! I sold one broody sumatra mix to KristyAnn which put me down to 4 committed broodies. One of them is a young Wellie who doesn't always get back on her eggs. She gets off her nest for her constitutional and then ends up in a different box sitting on newly laid eggs. I thought about giving her some newly hatched eggs but my one secure pen that works really well for mamas and babies is occupied.
