Of the major manufacturers of Layer feed which would you recommend. I'm not sure about organic or not. I know I have some time before they switch over from starter grower and Ill probably have to do something about the orps being younger and lay later but Ill figure it out. Just trying to prepare a bit.

I like local when I can get it so I buy kings. Gmo free layer is very good

Here are my Easter pics.

Almost a week old now. Not sure what to make of things.


The 3 week olds checking out the eggs

These two do not jump to the top of the box like the Del's did. Only when we are there talking to them and take one out will they come up to say hi. They love to be talked to and stroked. The little ones have not got there yet. But they will eat out of the hand more now.

Venting time here! While coming back from the grocery store this afternoon I saw a wild turkey crossing the road. Nothing unusual around here but it's gait was off. It turned to walk along the shoulder of the road and there was about 16" of arrow shaft sticking out his side. Tried to call a local wildlife rehab center but they don't have anyone to catch it. State Troopers where out of the area for the evening but would check for it in the morning. I feel terrible for not trying to catch it but the last I saw of the flock they were headed straight for a blackberry thicket and I was alone. 4 hours later I saw the group again he is not with them. Don't understand how they could wound it and leave it like that, people can be such IDIOTS!

Orpingtons do not jump or fly very high.

If you bought them as pullets from the feed store, I will say pullets and would be 90% correct.

Congratulations! They look like pullets!

Is it Turkey Season?

I thought Bow turkey season was in the fall. Poaching is a big deal in California.

Was trying to get the broody settled and was going to take away the fresher eggs for the incubator. Just for fun I candled two of them. SHOCK

Internal pips! I put the eggs back. I want to hang out by her cage now. Having a hard time not just camping there tonight!
