@meg yea Jeff was super cool for that. I definitely owe him one. But yea I can't wait until my chicks get big like yours. Yours are going on a month old now right?

Thank you Both!

The news report said the fire was stopped at hyway 44 so ok for today. My oldest daughter is already making plans for the rebuild

We are funny that way. My mom is in Redding and safe. It would be sad to lose everything up their but at least everyone is safe. I am praying for the firemen.

Glad to hear that your family is safe and well Ron! I'm sorry for all you guys near the fires and I feel guilty living up here in the Northwest now because our hottest day was in the low 90's!

I just talked to my Brother who lives in Lake Almanor West and he says the "Chips" fire is 6 miles away now and they are expecting winds to pick up which might bring the fire closer to his home!

He's moved many of his "prized possessions" out of his house to a friends house! Prattville just south east of him has been given an evacuation order I guess! I miss California

but we count our blessings now having to suffer the extreme heat you guys have!

The hardest day for our Chooks is when we're late with their treats!

Quote: Our son-in-law is one of the firefighters on that fire......it's a tough one. Last night he said the smoke was so bad and they were so tired they were all just st stumbling and staggering like a drunk. He was on the Chips fire before that, was just pulling into Chico and they said go now and put your gear on.

Paradise went through this four years ago and my heart breaks for all those people. We didn't leave because my brother was dying of cancer at my parents house next door. We slept in shifts.....it's so scary. Hope everyone stays safe.

When my daughters were Toddlers, dried fruit was their snack!

They knew where the dried prunes were in the freezer and would help themselves to them like they were candy. I really do not understand why the prunes in the store as so wet and weird. Well probably because if they are fluffed up with water they weigh more.
I will post the recipe and upload the file:

Hi make this for socials and do not tell people what it is until they taste it. Some people do not think they like prunes!

What a surprise they have when I tell them.

Prune Cake

2C. Flour
1C. sugar
1T Cocoa
1t. Salt
2t. Soda
1T. Corn Starch
2c. Prunes
1C. Prune Liquid
2t. Cinamon
½t. nutmeg
¼ cloves
½c. Oil

Stew Prunes until soft. Finely chop prunes. Mix all ingredients in a mixing bowl. Bake in a 9X13 Baking pan.

Bake 25-35 minutes at 350°.
Yum! Thanks for sharing Ron! You always have great recipes!

The Prune cake is great cut into pieces and frozen. I put the cut pieces into zip lock bags and the pop them into lunches for work and school

It depends on how old they are. They will build up resistance over time--that is what the medicated feed is supposed to do, but often that does not work.

Did you see Karen's Turkey yesterday? She uses that instead of inoculating for Mareks.

Ok, so if the older ones are three or four months old, then they should be fine. Do not wait for the pink poo. If they start acting listless and puffed up treat them immediately.

I thought one of my Legbars looked a bit off last night so they have corid in the water now.

Hi Megan,

I can't find the post, but yes the older EO Marraduna Basque are between 20 and 21 weeks old.

Cripes, that means I could get a Maran's egg at any time they are between 21 and 22 weeks old. Lucas better hurry up--If I see eggs I might decide to keep them

so i've gotten the baby EO basque chick cleaned up, and now they're all fast asleep again -- one nice moment earlier, i had let all the bigger girls out once i got home & the two 6-7 week old sussex girls also came out & were nibbling around in the grass, and i was sitting nearby watching them, when the big girls came charging back & started chasing -- and both sussexes came running over to ME and jumped on my lap, then one onto my shoulder, where they apparently felt safe. such a good feeling!!

now need to make dinner and go to bed, totally not ready for classes TOMORROW...

I hope it will still be there tomorrow. This one is a very bad fire and there are two other ones in the same area.

Thank you for all of the well wishes.
