I have no idea where she spent the night, but Souffle is now in the coop, thanks to BOSS

Glad she's back!
Took some pictures of my garden. It's growing nicely this year:) harvested some potatoes and snow peas. I will soon have zucchini, carrots and green beans too.

Trisha

PS having snow peas for breakfast doesn't go very well with coffee, LOL.

Your garden looks great! All I've got out of the teeny one I've planted this year is some basil and tomatoes, so far.
I'm crying. The 2/24 d'uccle chicks that hatched from Ron Tallent died. They were almost two weeks old in with one week old Ameraucana chicks. Why would they die?
Man that sucks. Sorry you lost them, hope you can figure out why.

In my chicken news, the BBS Orpingtons I had reserved are actually going to come from her 5/18 5/19 hatch, so I am still waiting there. Just had a lot of people who got on the list ahead of me, I guess.

Also, I saw a porcelain d'Uccle at the fair and photographs do NOT do them justice. Oh my gosh- resisting the urge to put an ornamental little bantam on next year's list.

Yep, I have the queen excluder as well. I've been researching most of the day whether to harvest the honey when it's full, or just add another super on top and harvest all at once. The blackberries are starting to bloom, so it's going to fill up FAST!
I di remember them beeing very heavy. Do you have one of the spinner things to extract?
Yes, a friend of ours has an extractor we can borrow.

Beautiful! Wow, potatoes already? I don't usually harvest mine until fall. I got a late start on my sugar snap peas, so they are just starting to blossom. I planted extra red seed potatoes, I was running low on reds. I have not tried the purple potatoes.
I grow potatoes spring and fall. Mid summer is too hot:( the purple ones are amazing!

So in addition to the ones on Craigslist, I'm also looking at ones on Amazon. I'd almost prefer one from Amazon so that if there's any problems, I can get my money back.

These are the ones I've found that I could afford before I need to set my eggs, if I were to choose to buy one instead of having someone else incubate eggs for me.

Would any of these work for a house where the temperature is fluctuating? Would I want a still air one, or a circulated air one?
Sorry for all the questions, it's just a big decision and I don't want to jump into it without fully researching. :)

Thanks, I hope so too...I found a 4-star incubator on Amazon including an egg turner for $130. http://www.amazon.com/Little-Giant-Advanced-Incubator-Combo/dp/B004XNMGQ6/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top

Under your circumstances, i would have someone else incubate, don't learn on tolbunts, lol.

Probably good advice.
But I still am interested in getting an incubator, even if it's not used for the Tolbunts.

Keep an eye on Craigs list. There will be another deal like the 50 dollar genesis 1588 last week.

That would have been perfect for you!

I agree! I'll have to keep checking it daily. But do I want a circulated air incubator, or a still air one? What's the difference?
You want a digital fan forced incubator. An old style GQF Genesis would be perfect.

Stil air is the type without a fan. Temperatures are un even so hatch rates are lower with them. Non Digital are very touchy and hard to calibrate. Genesis 1588, Brinsea and Rcom incubators are more stable and do not need as much work. The Rcom and the Brinsea with a humidity pump are hands off except for a couple of times during incubation.

I hope you find a good one!
