it costs a bit more than that. But I wanted more time and money on the other one that did not work. You plug it in. Double check the temp once it reaches the required level. And put water in the trough every other day. If you don;t have a turner you can turn by hand in the AM and then again in the PM and they seem to do fine. But it is a lot of work. I don;t know what you have, but if you can invest in getting better that may be your first step. Or do what I did. I borrowed one from a friend at first, then when you sell the chicks you can save the money towards growth. Hope you feel better soon

Thanks, I hope so too...I found a 4-star incubator on Amazon including an egg turner for $130. http://www.amazon.com/Little-Giant-Advanced-Incubator-Combo/dp/B004XNMGQ6/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top

And since I had the camera out, and the lighting was nice this morning for pictures, I took some random photos. Grapes are getting ready to bloom: Barnevelder hen: My broody OE:
Beautiful pictures:) l wish I could keep bees, maybe some day... There is a big apiary right down the road and we do get a lot of visiting bees:)

well since the kit has the fan and digital meter, that may work . I did not do well with my still air and if the temps shift.. you are in trouble. The genesis adjusts on its own which was great. So if your temps in the room you put it in are fairly steady you should be fine. Take a few days to adjusts the temp though.

My temps in my house aren't constant, though I suppose I could see if I can keep it constant by keeping the windows and doors to my room closed at night. I open my windows at night so it fluctuates between low 60's and high 70's.

Took some pictures of my garden. It's growing nicely this year:) harvested some potatoes and snow peas. I will soon have zucchini, carrots and green beans too.

Trisha

PS having snow peas for breakfast doesn't go very well with coffee, LOL.

I've searched for a used Gensis but couldn't find one. Time is of the essence if I decide to get my own incubator, as there's only 8 days until the first eggs need to be set.
I found a Hovabator:

Little Giant Circulated Air Incubator

Or 48-egg incubator. I figure if I don't like it I can always sell it.

Which would be best for a house with varying temperatures?
