Thank you Kathy, that means a lot to me coming from you

Thanks Vicki! By the way, I will get back to you re the last PM after I talk to my mom. I assume it won't be an issue but I need to make sure.

So guys, I have another "what gender is this" question. Usually I'm pretty good at telling the gender of chicks, at least that is what I'm assuming because usually my guesses are verified as correct by the lovely people on this thread...but this one has me stumped. Looks and acts like a pullet, but is getting a redder and redder comb. What do you guys think? It's about 6 weeks old and feathered out MUCH faster than another one that everyone on here thought was a cock(already rehomed him)

Great pictures... sure wish you lived closer as we have some beautiful Welsh Mountain Ponies that are very photogenic.

Them are my Molted Houdan's and the reason they are in the
brooder is mom went to sleep after she hatched 16 of 23 egg's
and now I am down to a dozen chicks ....

Do you breed them? They are my "eventually" list. I really like my white egg layers that I have right now...though two of the four are currently being mommies but you throw crests and mottling at me and I go weak.

Well that is the roosters job and he is really something to deal with as he thinks everything is his but the funny part is once I catch him he really is docile and easy going till I put him down and he runs around ....

I live on the southern part of Death Valley about 45 minutes East of China Lake or a couple of hours East of Bakers Field ....

Has anyone had dealings with Catlin Pecu in Tombstone AZ?   She has Houdans and Spitzhauben.  She is on the rare breeds fb page and on ebay as well

You might ask BYC member 'desertmarcy' who has a number of breeds and is in Tucson.
No guarantees, but checking with her could be worth a try.

Guess who's ordering an incubator today?
wee.gif
I made a little money and can afford to order it today, yay!
It should be here on the 22nd. Now all I need is to sell that chick I posted a page back so I can get some cheap Trader Joe's eggs to do my first hatch with. :) I've always wanted to hatch out Trader Joes eggs, never thought I'd be able to.
When should I buy my eggs? I know they need to sit on the counter for 24 hours and I should buy the freshest ones I can find. Should I just get them the day before the incubator arrives?

And the obsession begins...

desertmarcy is easy to work with and really good stock I bought some Spangled Russian Orloff's from her and there were very healthy ....

The three hens are from her line and the rooster I got from
another person but they told me the person they bought
him from said he was from Marcy's line ....

Oooh, I really like those but I heard they really suffered in heat, have you found them to be at all heat hardy? Not that I need another breed added back onto the list after I whittled it down some, lol.
