For those of you that feed eggs back to the chickens how many eggs per chicken do you prepare.

I usually cook about ten dozen at a time.........but that's me

I break them into a 13x9 pan and bake them for 45 minutes at 350 degrees. Let them cook and cut them into squares. Then I toss 1-3 squares per pen depending on how many birds are in the pen and their size.

Since I cook so many eggs at a time, I find it's the quickest. Each pan holds around 5 dozen eggs.

I have had people stroll through the kitchen and think the squares look tasty, not knowing it's chicken feed. I am not careful with bits of shell or anything that might fall off a dirty egg

Hi I did some catching up but was behind 300+ posts and skipped to here.

In my updates

My Speckled Sussex has hatched out 3 of her 4 eggs. She seems convinced that the other one is still good. I watched her tuck it back under herself...i did add an egg nearly 24 hours after I gave her the clutch so maybe this is it. The chicks are mixed...My Amelia is the mom of two and a Dorking the mom of another. Dad Is either NH or Del but they are sure cute. Hope there is a girl or two in there somewhere.

I have an Australorp on Day 10 with papa brooders AM/EE BBS eggs...just 5 left of the 9 I set...hoping for a blue girl and/or a splash girl
And remember my silkie broody with 2 dozen eggs that i rescued a few months back? Well she is sitting on 6 mixed eggs now in a broody box in the broody pen...I feel like she will be a great mommy now that she is given a reasonable egg/silkie ratio.

Ron is hatching eggs for me from a Chooks Chick project bird from that I have wanted for over a year
And it looks like I may be getting some Birchen Marans from Laura and SPR...another dream bird...from Deb so life is good in the chicken acquisition dept.

@PetRock I hope I am still on your hatching egg list. I will be giving your eggs to a proven broody so not sure when one of mine will decide to go for round 2. Maybe not until fall but at some point!

To all of you Nor Cal peeps:
Hope all your hatches are successful and all of your chicks are pullets...hope every thing that looks like illness turns out to be nothing and I hope you enjoy your birds today! Be well and stay cool! Thanks for being a great source for chickens and information about them!!!
Sounds like Christmas at your house! I am winding all of mine down. Last hatch was a few days ago. Hope all goes well with yours and thank for the well wished...

I crack as many as I have to spare, blend them with a little milk, yogurt, cottage cheese, and or left over vegetables. Pour the mixture in a bake safe dish and bake at 350 for 20 to 25 minutes or until eggs are cooked. Depending on size of pan you may need to cook longer. Be careful not to over cook as chickens do not like dry eggs.

I would give them no more than an ice cream scooper full each. Depending on the number of chickens you have, you can refrigerate the left overs for the next day.

I'm sorry but that sounds like an amazing Saturday morning breakfast for a family. In fact, my family would be in awe. So your birdies must adore you :)

Heat today was brutal for the birds. I threw a couple of ice bags on the ground and a couple of them stood and lay down on them. You know its hot when the ice bag melts and the ground is dry

Supposed to be hotter tomorrow. Im thinking I may try my bucket air conditioner inside the coop tomorrow. The extra protection from the sun and the cool air may help them.
Ill be sure to put water in the coop.
Watermelon has been a saving grace for them. But now Im out.
Early morning run to the store I think.

I am worried about our chickens tomorrow. We will be at work all day and the weather is supposed to be very hot. We plan on putting frozen water bottles and extra water in with them before we leave, but not going to be home until after 4pm. Hope they will be ok.
