LOL!!! To late...they went out with the wings and skin.

My husband said to me the other day, "I hope you enjoy eating all the quail because I'm not going to eat any." When I asked him why, he said it was because he doesn't like anything "gamey" tasting. I told him home raise quail do not taste "gamey", but I don't think he believes me. I will have to sneak it into a dish that uses the meat and see if he can tell.

I'm hoping this will be the last time I need you guys to interpret a necropsy report for me. NO MORE DEATHS. Seriously. 3 in two months(two adults and one chick), and nothing I could have done about any of them.

Makes me feel so helpless. I'm just waiting for another of my remaining 3 adult hens to go, I'm just having that luck lately...Today one of my hens was under some dead branches in my yard, and I was absolutely convinced she was dying because she wouldn't come out to see me. Turns out she was just laying an egg where she wasn't supposed to. Naughty chicken...

Here's the final report for Penny's necropsy. What does this say? I'm especially interested in knowing what the bolded text in the first paragraph means as the word "terminal" never means something good. Was she dying anyways?
Thanks for interpreting this for me...I feel stupid because this all confuses me lol!

Case Summary
7/18/2014:
Microscopic exam confirms the egg yolk peritonitis in this chicken, appearing as a lingering subtle chronic process and there is
salpingitis most likely the underlying cause of the coelomic infection. A bacterial agent was not isolated. The only aerobic
culture results where Bacillus sp. in large numbers. There is some fibrin in the lungs, however, this is most likely terminal rather
than a primary pathogen.
There are no other significant findings. This concludes this case.

BACTERIAL AEROBIC CULTURE
Results
Penny Penny Liver Swab No growth after 48 hours
Penny Penny Lung Swab Bacillus sp. Lg#
Penny Penny Coelomic Cavity Swab No growth after 48 hours
Animal/Source Specimen Specimen Type
Salmonella PCR and Confirmation Culture
Results
Penny Penny Feces No salmonella detected

This is a confirmation of the preliminary report.

The stuff in the lungs probably happened because she died and was probably not the cause of death.

Still no salmonella or e coli bacteria so the flock is good.

Of course not! When you're done, you should post a picture of an EE in the Ameraucana thread. They'll be so happy!

I agree, the bolded part was just saying the lung fibrus issues were a result of the other health problems/her worsening condition, and not some new problem or disease to be concerned about.

Ummmm.....in the middle of the night???

Yes! 10 feet away so I will need to use ear plugs tonight!

Two of the eggs have pips! and I hear chirping.

Thank you. Glad it was nothing contagious but it's sad that I had to lose both my Speckled Sussex. Don't know if I want to get another, it'll probably be too sad.
