isnt the subject of this thread for member location? how many pages back did it get hi=jacked? what should posts made here be relevant to?
We have a wealth of information here. It would be terribly sad to limit our interactions to just where we live. How could we enable on another to achieve that ever larger flock? How would we know why most of the hens that eat eggs do it? Where else can we post pics of our first...second...third...fourth hatch of the season? And we are a very impatient group who always wants to know the sex of our chicks prior to the first crow and egg and I don't know of any more reliable sources than the good people on this thread.

Pull up a chair...if it is remotely chicken related feel free to post.

I had one die of it last Winter.
If its fungal rather than viral or bacterial then I suspect anything could get it. However some things due to body temps and other biological factors may be more resistant to certain fungi than others.

Okay can I give my ducks any human medicine? Baby medicine? They're 3 days old and I believe they caught a cold last night because of their water episode. The could fit into their old watering bowl and would get soaking wet and freezing cold. Last night I dried them 4 separate times and then made them a new watering bowl only their heads can fit in! Ones dribbling some when she eats and the other has cold feet I have them under heat but they don't seem to stay warm

Yes, they can have many of the medications we take, but unless you have a gram scale and a basic knowledge of what they should and shouldn't have I would not recommend that you give anything unless directed to by a vet. At three days old i'm gonna guess that they weigh between 30 and 70 grams, which is almost impossible to dose correctly with human drugs.

Sounds like you have figured this out already, but ducklings without their mothers are not water proof and cannot have access to water they can stand in or they will get soaking wet and hypothermic. This is true even on very warm days. The waterer is use for mine is one of those quart sized ones with a red base.

Would this be true of a duckling under a broody hen.

Ducklings get their waterproofing from their waterproof duck mothers, so unless it's been under a duck, goose, swan, etc, it's not gonna have the oils it needs to be in water.
