California - Northern

Said goodbye to Carolina today. I got to FedEx at closing time and they had already strapped down everything on the plane but said they would find room for my shipment. Very nice people working there.
It's hitting me hard that she's now officially gone. She's on a plane to Sacramento for necropsy. I will never see her again.
Rest in peace my sweet girl.
I'll always love this picture...this was when she was at POL, and still had a tiny comb.

Aww...what a sweet looking girl. I love blue chickens. She was lucky to have such a loving owner.

Yes.....

I was not going to bid and once I did I was really hoping someone would outbid me. I do NOT need any more eggs to hatch, but those pictures ere soooo pretty! I have way too many already. Good thing I have 2 broodies. I was going to split the eggs from Jeff between the 2 of them, but one just went broody abou a week ago. I will give here the new eggs to hatch. I do have 2 of the meat bird mixes that I plan to process tomorrow morning so that will make a little more room....

That chicken house looks huge! Wish I had room for smething even half that size...
You shouldn't have any trouble selling the chicks you hatch. Her birds are really nice. I love my Silkies. I have two blue partridge rooster chicks that I really need to re-home but they are the sweetest guys! So are my two porcelain roosters. I am really hooked on them!

The new chicken house is 10x20 and will have 4 rooms. 1 room for feed and chicks, 2 rooms for two separate groups of my W/BW Ameraucanas and the 3rd room for my Golden Cuckoo Marans.

yes I bought mine on amazon

no Marans. maybe Debs Flock in Shingle Springs. I have a few Empordanesa though

wow that looks great
Thanks Jason, it is a lot of work. It was a push for me to help my husband lift that 20x7 ft. wall up today! I am getting too old for this!

Thanks, I am really excited to finally get a new house. If you look behind the new construction at the trees, you will see trees hanging low over the existing chicken house. One of the trees has cracks in the trunk and looks like with a heavy rain it will come down on the house and yard. Those two trees will have to be cut down. We have to move two chicken houses, a 10x10 kennel and some of another pen, then put back the kennel with its attached 10x10 house. It is going to be a huge job!

I'm so sorry you lost a friend. Hopefully UCD can offer you closure. She was a pretty chicken and you are an excellent photographer. How nice you have this photo to remember her by.

By luck it looks like I'll have 3-4 BBS Marans pullets to find a home for in a month or so and have been

over your Swedish Flowers...maybe we could work a trade?

Great idea :) PM me when you are certain and I'll be tagging girls to save for you. Now if I can just have some of these growers turn in to pullets

. Right now it looks like 100% boys. Time will tell. Really - to have 3 consecutive hatches be all males would just be the most rotten luck.

Quote: Good to know they will sellable. I had that in the back of my head when I bid on them. THere have been lots of people on the FB poutry page asking for silkies. Hopefully there will still be a market when these are ready.

I am so jealous of your new building! My storage was just outside the entrance to the pen...untill we fenced in a bigger area so they would not be eating the entire year. Now the storage is inside the new pen and they sit on everything and poop in it.

. I need to move everything outside the new fence lines.

If your plan is to move the house and run in order to cut the tree, I'd suggest you look into a professional tree crew. I had a guy come take a cracked 12" dia oak limb, bridged 50 feet over my kids tree house just resting against another tree and ready to drop. He put on his harness, climbed up tied off and had it down in no time. Price was reasonable.

May want to call for estimates, it could be a good option.

Kelly is the rooster whisperer so she is likely correct

Every now and then one fools me. My own flocks are easy, because I see them every day. Pictures can be a bit more tricky.

Ah, I did not know this! I just like the input of multiple people, always have :) Thanks!
Not a title that I chose, but two smarty pants members bestowed it upon me. Thanks Mary and Kathy.

@chickee My husband is a tree man. He can remove an entire tree by ziplining it out of the yard. I'm sure you can find a skilled professional to do the job w/o having to move anything in the yard.
