I wonder if anyone near the foothills will have lavender chicks this next year. I'm not on too much as I like to sew.

Quote: I keep finches in outside flights too. We have both mice and rats that have been hanging around for several years after the seed. We catch a lot for a while, then not so many, then the traps are busy again...usually with small ones (youngsters?).
It is supposed to be about 31 here overnight. It has been about the same the last several nights and so far nothing frozen over.its going to be chilly. they are calling for mid 20's up here at night early next week .
make sure your feathered friends have good coop ventilation and break the ice in the water for them in the morning

YEAH!!!! What kind do you have hatching and how many?
It is common to see some dark blood on them. The veins in the membrane recedes as they begin pipping the eggs, and there is much less by the time they hatch, but there will likely still be some in the vessels. It shouldn't be problem unless it is bright red and a lot.Maybe im being paranoid but i looked at the one hatching when she moved and it looked like it has blood on it is that normal or should i be worried or ahh what do i do other then tie my hands and not touch xD
