Quote: I keep finches in outside flights too. We have both mice and rats that have been hanging around for several years after the seed. We catch a lot for a while, then not so many, then the traps are busy again...usually with small ones (youngsters?).

its going to be chilly. they are calling for mid 20's up here at night early next week .
make sure your feathered friends have good coop ventilation and break the ice in the water for them in the morning
It is supposed to be about 31 here overnight. It has been about the same the last several nights and so far nothing frozen over.

It is common to see some dark blood on them. The veins in the membrane recedes as they begin pipping the eggs, and there is much less by the time they hatch, but there will likely still be some in the vessels. It shouldn't be problem unless it is bright red and a lot.

I'm hoping to get the greenhouse plastic up on my coops this weekend. The waterers will still freeze but not as often and the girls like the warmer temps.

So envious of having big shows to go and drool at, 5.5 hours for me to get to a small show here. I'm not a snow driver and to many passes to get down your way.

Update and ill answer all questions

*seramas and a cross that idk what it is
* it was a puntured blood vessel because it was malpositioned but is now hatched and under mama
i have 9 eggs two i think are duds and two are hatched but 3 more are internally pipped so will have more by tomorrow hopefully

@SilkiesForEver let's hope you can go.

There's a Pacific poultry breeders association 2015 thread up(; there you can post any birds you will be taking to sell and you can also just chat. Some people like to pre sell birds before taking them.
