Thought I should share these here. They are pictures of a hen that has vent gleet, but her gleet is from worms and possibly a bacterial infection, *not* yeast.

And here are my first ducklings of 2015:

Cute babies! Ducklings are the best.

So anyone who wants in on the Urch order...I hope to place it within the next week. I have verbal commitments from two people in addition to myself for 16+ chicks total. As soon as I get the $ and our order is up to 25 chicks I will call it in. Just sharing so that if you are serious you know the timetable for making a commitment.

I want to call and check on the RC RIW before I decide on a back up, but they list a two hour block for phone calls and I have been held up at work the past two nights.

Naptime for Solo.
No spoiled house chickens here. Nosiree bob, no way, uh uh...(I'm in trouble)
Adorable!!! I have two test hatches for my Pita Pinta currently in the incubator. The first group has only been in there for a week but I couldn't resist candling a few last night. We have veining! I can hardly wait to have chicks again! I do have some broody raised ones in the yard but they are usually too smart and fast to catch.

Oh boy! I'd be in trouble too...

Last week, an Italian blogger contacted me and asked if he could use some of my Langshan photos for an article he was writing on Langshan. He posted the link on FB today! I downloaded a translator program to automatically translate pages to English. Here is a link to the article on his blog:

sent you a pm re: Cream Legbars

Thanks! I will get back to you soon! :)
Here's my 2-cents:

I have CCL & UofA, er, Arkansas Blues. They both seem to lay the same size egg so far - medium to large. The ArkBlue's egg is definitely a truer pale "blue" - all 3 of CCLs have a greenish tinge to them. More towards a turquoise or caribbean blue.
Personality - my ArkBlues are fine now unless I reach for them. They'll eat treats from my hand but no touchee, crazy chicken lady.
I have 1 CCL who is exactly the same way as the ArkBlues. The other 2 are more mellow - 1 I can actually scratch on occasion.
I've never had Ameraucanas - only EEs and a rumpless Araucana (who is super sweet & snuggly & lays a turquoise egg).

The AM that I kept doesn't yet eat from my hand but will get on the outside of the circle of birds. The one I sold was so wiggy that when I was in the run...20 x 30 or so she was continually on the move getting as far from me as possible. She wouldn't even come close for treats. Plus her egg was dull turquoise and the girl I kept has an egg the color of the water in Key West.

I look forward to having a couple of both and getting to know them

Also looking forward to meeting you and the Fuzzy Man and Solo on Monday

Where are you located again? I might want in but would need to be close enough to be able to get them from you.

I am getting about 4-5 eggs a day, but only have 2 that are squatting. I also have had some that squatted long before they laid so I don't pay too much attention that. I have lots of AM but no blue eggs yet this season. One of my older ones is still finishing up a rough molt. Poor thing looks pretty ragged.

Do I dare ask why it closed?

Audio51 I will happily meet you in Williams to do a roadside drug...I mean chick deal. I am in Lakeport I can bring my mom and we will get a bite at Granzellas and you can get a box of nice quality fuzziness

Will do! He will probably go into a pen with some of my big, beautiful blacks so their offspring will be black and blue.

And Splash??? Still on the quest for Splash.

I don't have any of the U of A blues but I agree with you about the Ameraucanas. I have a blue wheaten, 2 lavender, and had 1 sliver. None of them were good layers and all are not very friendly. I also have several crested cream legar and cream legbar mixes. I will say that they are fantastic layers of big blue eggs but are flighty. If I had to vote between the two, I would go with CCL. I have some fantastic CCL/Pita Pinta mixes that are laying copious amounts of green eggs!

BBS are supposed to lay better. My girl just started about 4 weeks ago and she is giving me 3-4 a week right now. Gotta love copious amounts of green eggs

I have to call them too. I want to verify a couple of things. I can ask about the RC RIW if you want me to. I will likely call tonight.

I love the idea of a colorful egg basket, but having CALM chickens (because of the dog) was more important to me. But when I see all those pretty blue and green eggs, I still find myself sighing over them.

I had no interest in a colorful egg basket when I first started with chickens, then, my second year with them I started adding birds for egg color. Now I have multiple shades of brown including chocolate, white, olive, turquoise and as of this week, pink!! I need a newer pic this was taken a few weeks back when I wasn't getting so many. Easter Egger chicks and adults can be delightfully tame and friendly and calm if you decide to go the colored egg route

Cool Beans! Gonna go look now.

If anyone is interested, I'm thinning down my flock and I have some Barnevelder pullets available for local pick up in the Redding/ Red Bluff area. I might be able to meet as far south as Chico/ Orland. So far, I have at least three pullets I need to rehome and I probably have more later. These three don't lay very dark eggs ( it's why I'm not keeping them for breeding), but are pretty. I'll have chicks and hatching eggs available soon as well:)

One of the three pullets.
