Good Afternoon everyone!

First off; I want to say a BIG "THANK YOU" to @ronott1 @chickee @Sylvester017 @1zooman12 and everyone else for the advice and info regarding wry neck and stargazer syndrome. Having ya'll and this forum has taught me so much!

Unfortunatly the worst case didn't make it, but the other 2 are improving. I can hardly tell that one of them even had any issues (it had a very mild case) and the other is slowing getting better (I think) but it is eating and drinking on it's own so I am still holding out hope that it can have a somewhat normal life. I was down sick for several days and my DH did his best to keep up on the vitamins. So with a little luck and my full attention I'm hoping for some quicker improvement over the next few weeks.

The good news is that I've seen no other signs of illness or weakness in any of the other chicks so I'm feeling fairly confident that the cause was incubator and vitamin related and not some horrible contagious disease.

I'll keep posting updates as things progress.

Quote: I run mine on the kitchen table next to the open windows without any insulation. When the winds blows, or if the temp drops suddenly, the temp and humidity will fluctuate a little. I've only done e few small batches in it, but for the money, I think i like it. Need to do more testing to be sure.

I gave my broody 5 cornish cross chicks. she is so happy to have chicks, but it wil be interesting to see how she does raising these little yet soon to be big "monsters".
I bet she does fine with them. Keep us posted!
This wil be my first time trying meat birds. I figured she could do most of the hard work. The kids are very interested in the whole process of raising these chicks for meat. They did name the chicks : Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Soup, and Snack.

I think beekissed has a video of CXs free ranging. They did very well and it was great to see them running around.

I have a 4 week old cockerel that my husband wants to try and keep, but we are going to be out of the country for a month this summer. I am afraid it will start crowing while we are away and bother the neighbors, so I was wondering if anyone knows of a place we can board him while we are away? He is a nice bantam orpington.

Depending on your relationship w/ a vet that sees poultry sometimes they will board pets. I've never seen a vet turn down easy money for them and you'll know your little roo will have instant medical help if needed. The trick is finding a vet that sees poultry - mine happens to treat dogs/cats/exotics/birds. But I still had to call him to make sure he would see chickens - I was lucky that he worked in the poultry industry in his youth. Little bantams are so sweet and especially the boys for some reason!
