They are very sweet tempered too!

And calm. They did not startle when the camera flash went off.

It is time for Chicky cuteness!

I have a small hatch--6 Pita Pinta and One OE(olive egger; Arakansas blue rooster over Partridge Penedesenca hen) Five have hatched already!

Here are the first three, two Pita Pintas and one OE:

I'm not yet convinced chicken math is real, but chick lust is.

Pita Pintas have golden eye color.

I think there were PP mixes running in the same group as the Langshan boys so maybe. He is a sweet docile little guy so that would make sense.

@PetRock had a look at Abel's eyes and they are golden so someone non-Langshan must be his mama.

The woodshop teacher who is also a chicken guy turned a poorly made two tiered coffee table into a brooder for me. Just have to put latches on it and it will be predator proof to boot. Now I can move chicks outside after a week indoors. This will make my husband and me happy.
Here is the Spanish race standard for Pita Pinta. They are supposed to have orangish eyes.

It could be that Abel's father is my Rhode Island Red rooster and his mother is one of my Langshan hens. I think that you will see some red in his feathers as he matures if that's the case. I would be more inclined to think that the father is a Langshan and the mother is a Langshan mix, perhaps a Pita PInta/Langshan. There are a couple of those at the farm and they have orangish eyes.

Yes, I am getting old enough that Orange, golden and etc. kind of look the same.

The Internet dress may have looked different because of age related color perception....

I forgot to say thank you! How rude of me.
Hi all - anyone got a Breda that picks at her toe feathers to the point of making them bleed?  I don't know if ours is picking at the quills because they are annoying her or if it is a habit.  We got her shipped to us 2 weeks ago and she and her Amer traveling companion are 4 m/o and we have them in quarantine in an indoor dog kennel.  Both arrived positive for round worms via our vet's lab fecal tests which I treated for.  The stress of shipping and a new environment brought on CRD symptoms w/ the Breda which the vet treated for and both juveniles are well again.  Just to be certain we treated for lice/mites too.  Now I have the issue w/ Breda of the toe-feather picking to the point of making it bleed and we don't want the other chicken to join in blood picking.  We dip the feet in Grannick's Bitter Apple twice a day but its not deterring her.  Other than BluKote are there any suggestions for stopping toe-feather picking?  I have Silkies where I never had them pick at their toe-feathers.

Thanx for suggestions!  This is a wonderfully active thread and hope someone has had a similar experience?

NO sulmet! Unless its life and death. Use sulfadimethoxine. Might have to get it on line. Also give them something to peck. Cabbage potato ?

Mario gives potatoes frequently to bord birds. It even keeps the occational silkie from going broody.

I finally got my white showgirl cage set up! It inly took 18 months lol.

Im setting up the next today not sure who yet.

Got to be careful with potato if the skins become green they are toxic.

One of my friends just posted this to my FB page. I can't stop giggling. I'm pretty sure I would get flogged for even attempting to wrestle any of my birds into one of these, LOL!
