usually on your receipt, if the item is taxable there is a "T" next to it.So are you saying that fowl feeds are not taxable? We buy all our feeds from TSC and I'm sure they tax it. Maybe I just misunderstood what you meant.But with chickens, ducks, quail, rabbits and a goose, TSC has become our second home. Think the IRS would let us claim it as so? Haha At any rate, the taxes alone adds up to quite a sum after a while.
If your animals are a food source (meat, eggs,dairy) the feed should be untaxable. That is because food (with the exception of restaurants) is right now non-taxable. If you are using your rabbits for meat, and think you're being taxed on it, I would talk to TSC. You may have to tell them every time you purchase.
Chicken feed is common non taxable. I'm not familiar with rabbit feed.
Hay for cows/goats I believe is non-taxable. Hay for horses IS taxable. It's about what is consuming it (a food source)
