I have broken up my breeding pens & have really downsized. I now have a nice Delaware rooster from Kim Consol to rehome & 2 True Ameracuanas one Black rooster & 1 Blue rooster. If anyone needs any of them let me know. I am keeping a layer pen of assorted pure bred girls with BigBoy as their Flockmaster & a BCM cockerel from Kern & Gayle in Newman as his backup/replacement.
If my son moves out I can handle these myself now.

You did the right thing.

Once a week I give my chicken girls a spa in their nest boxes. I mix up different fresh herbs and flowers. Rosemary goes into that mix and I've yet to have a broody. My girls are all still fairly young but great layers. If anyone wants to try an herbal spa I use rosemary, catnip leaves torn up, lavender, mint leaves, a little fresh parsley ( not too much bc it can cause diarreah),dandelion flowers, & marigold flowers (usually the ones that are wilting and drying up on the stems so I pull the seed pods apart, but I throw in the fresh bloomed flower heads too). Everything I use is safe and edible for them. They love their spa days. Our motto is Coop de Ville, "Home of Happy Birds".

Karen I'd be interested in the black ameracuana rooster. I have splash marans and olive eggs coming. He'd be a good cross. Plus how the seeds to the cat claw plant coming along. I need some of those....Call me .

My 3month old pullets are pecking at my two polish top hats heads. I don't see them doing it during the day. They have broken feathers and doesn't look too bad yet but I think I should separate them. I have twelve young pullets. I think their roost box is too small now for all of them. Can I just stick these two in a large dog crate at night til their feathers grow back? Wonder if this will be an ongoing problem.
