How many successfully raise turkeys with chickens?
And is it the turkeys that get blackhead and not the chickens?

From what I have read, both the chickens and the turkeys will have black head. The chickens do not get sick from it but the Turkeys die.

If there is no blackhead at your place and the chickens do not have it, then it should work.

You never know until you try.

Quote: Wow......that is a long time to go with the tumor. Should the surgery correct the problem? If so, I wonder why the Dr. did not want her to have it sooner. I will have to back and look at my own labs. I have Fibro and don't remember that being talked about at all, but finding a Dr up here that knows ANYTHING about Fibro is next to impossible. I had been seeing someone in Sac but it is quite an ordeal to get there and I have not really seen any improvement. He is one of those guys that wants you to take tons of supplements and tests (which he conveniently has available thru his office) and it is 2 hour drive each way. With this heat, there is no way I am going to go there, I also can't drive that far anymore so I have to have my DH drive me, which takes up a whole day for him..

There are several on the 530 FB group and I have not heard o any issues with backhead from any of them. You aren't supposed to keep quail and chickens together either, but my quail have not had any health issues at all and they are in a pen inside the chicken pen.

hyperparathyroid disease is very curable with the removal of the tumor.

Yes, check the labs for calcium. There was a study in 2014 regarding it:

Well chicks installed under broody she shuffled them under her wings as I grabbed the dud eggs. (couldnt get 1 egg ill get it tomorrow)
Also installed Chicken farmer starter kit at my brother in law's house tonight. freeing up one pen so I can swap the little family with the youngsters in a few days.

Now to get the other pens set up so I can move the starter kit to their real home (replace with current youngster flock) and move the current pita kids outside.

What is the starter kit consist of?

Ok - here's a new one:

I have discovered that my speckled Sussex is an egg eater BUT she only eats the dark brown ones (the black copper marans).
Has anyone else experienced this?
Guess I'll paint some of my golf balls brown.
