California - Northern

Wow......that is a long time to go with the tumor.  Should the surgery correct the problem?  If so, I wonder why the Dr. did not want her to have it sooner.    I will have to back and look at my own labs.   I have Fibro and  don't remember that being talked about at all, but finding a Dr up here that knows ANYTHING about Fibro is next to impossible.  I had been seeing someone in Sac but it is quite an ordeal to get there and I have not really seen any improvement.  He is one of those guys that wants you to take tons of supplements and tests (which he conveniently has available thru his office) and it is  2 hour drive each way.  With this heat, there is no way I am going to go there,  I also can't drive that far anymore so I have to have my DH drive me, which takes up a whole day for him..
Welcome to the thread!!!!   I think you will like it here!!!  :welcome

There are several on the 530 FB group and I have not heard o any issues with backhead from any of them.  You aren't supposed to keep quail and chickens together either, but my quail have not had any health issues at all and they are in a pen inside the chicken pen.

I have both chickens and quail, but the chickens have their own coop and my quail are in 2 large pens. However, they are all other in the same area and my chickens free range and scratch around under the quail pens (& our rabbit hutches too). All are healthy & we've had no problems showing any ill effects.

Hi everyone,

I have a handsome Blue Copper Marans chick that I'm 99% sure is a cockerel. I'm in the city (San Jose) and not allowed to have roosters. He's currently about 4 weeks old so I have some time to figure out what I'm going to do with him. Is there anyone in Northern California who would be interested in having him to add to their flock? If he's going to end up someone's dinner, then he'll end up my dinner, just thought I'd see if it's possible to rehome him first. He's the little guy out front in this photo.

Warning!
Do not use little rubber bands on your polish head poufs.
I have discovered that they migrate down and cut off blood supply to new feather growth and maybe their vaulted skull.
I feel like such a newbie but happy i discovered it early enough so it didn't cause permanent damage.
Painters blue tape only next time.

Thanks for the tip!

Polish seem to be a lot of work.

Quote: That sounds like my set up. Double decker quail pen inside the chicken pen. I have never had any issues wither. I am thinking I m going to rehome my quail though. My hubby refuses to eat quail and the quail eggs don't get used as much. A friend of my daughter wants them so I think he will get them. I may use the pen as brooder in the future.

I think you are right...that's a mighty big comb for such a little thing. I hope you are able to find him a good home.
