I live up in the Mayacama Mountains, have grapes and a farm... it's 52 hard miles from SFO, called the North Bay... I call it Northern Ca. it's really a Napa zip code, I love it, so do my Ladies.

It is definitely time to clear some birds out. The Barred Rock, Rhode Island Red, & Easter Egger will go to my gardener tomorrow. I managed to catch those three before they woke everyone up and all the adults came out of the coop to see *** was going on. That leaves the 3 Wyandotte chicks (2 of which are spoken for), and Peep, the world's dumbest chick.

I am still working on reducing my numbers too....I have at least 5 cockerels to rehome or process....2 BLRW, 2 Swedish Flower and 1 Splash Copper Marans. Then I still have way to many....

Well I think I just my answer. One of my Egyptians flew into the pen with the four older chickens. They were pecking her like crazy. Lucky I saw it and caught her to put her out.

I think of they all went in at the same time it would work better. They would still do some pecking, but there would be more f them so less picking on any one. They would also have each other to hang with.

Mine like the misters, especially the bantam Polish who will stand under them.

Mine were a little freaked out by them in the beginning, but now they ignore them. There is a significant difference in the temperature in the pen when they are on though...

I don't but I've wanted them for years now since I've seen them on here. At least Roseville isn't far at all.

The are very small bantam chickens. Some are called micro, others are mini.

They are the smallest breed of chicken in the world. Typically under 500g, but with even smaller birds that are under 250g being bred in its native Malaysia. However, size alone does not define a Serama. A small chicken without the Serama "type" is not a Serama, but just another small bantam.

They are sometimes called apartment chickens. Warning the eggs are not easy to hatch and the chicks are very fragile. They also hatch a little early.

These warm times of year are good hatching times mine get chilled easily. Once they are 3-4 months they are hardier.

You also have to be super careful of preditorsas they are so small many things that hunt in the day can take them even cats.

US Seremas have a little oegb mixed in with them and are not as extream shaped as Malaysia birds. They malay ones have back and lung issues and often die early. Like smooshed faced dogs and cats ( Persians and pugs) they have been changed to the point they have physical issues. You almost never see that in US birds.

A lot of people have Seremas as apartment pets and put diapers on them. They like indoors. Nutmeg was raised inside by a friend and she tries to sneak in alll the time. Every once in a while she opens the dog door and I find an egg in my sox.

She's sitting on her 3d batch of chicks this year but she is so small she has issues with babies. I try and get her to co mother with a silkie it works better.

Well no enthusiastic cockrialis quiet but they are high pitched so not as ear splitting as say a marans.

The non frizzle boys respond well to collars especially if you start them as they learn to crow.

Here is my youngest pair. They look to be confetti or calico. They are about 2/3 size they will likely be big a or small bs.

The frizzle on the bottom is the girl.

Anyone near Roseville that needs a nice looking Blue Copper Maran Roo or Jubilee Orpington Roo? I've tried craigslist and the buy/sell/trade section but haven't had a response. I'm probably just impatient but I though I'd see if anyone near me was interested. If you live a ways away I'd be willing to meet you halfway. The marans (2 of them) I listed for $20 each and the Jubilee for $40 but I'd be willing to knock it down a bit or trade. They are really good quality, I just have too many roosters already
