I think I'm slacking in the security department.

First the hawk that snatched the Barred Rock pullet. Next the snake killing a Brahma and a mutt chick now I go outside to lock up the meaties and there's a half eatn one in the meatie yard!
I didn't even get a chance to clean it up. By the time I grab 2 grocery bags and a trash bag and went back outside it was gone!!!

Now my Doberman COULD have eatn it, because I left the gate open when I grabbed the bags but I doubt it because there was no blood on his mouth or snout.

So either I have a very very slick predator who gets through dogs and fencing kills, hides, and then comes back to reclaim the kill.

Or I have a very slick predator and a very nasty doberman who eats dead animals??

This is crazy!!

So sorry to hear about the lost chick. It's a bad time right now with some predators moving down to the valley.

Its ok just a little meatie. I'm not as angry when they completely tale them. I know at least maybe some young ones got to eat to but half eatn and chick just killed is just a waste.

You win some you lose some ;)

It must be Fall despite the hot temps. I heard Geese flying over tonight.

There are a lot of feathers in the yard and down to 5 eggs today.

Ron
well I saw something new tonight a flock of vultures flying overhead. I mean like 30-40 vultures. I have never seen anything like that before, i mean 3-6 is normal but this was crazy!
