California - Northern

Hello everyone,

I gave up yesterday and went to the vet with purples. She gave me stronger antibiotcs, and fluids ( I couldn't find saline anywhere) but was only moderatly hopeful. She is so thin I felt her trachia and thought it was a lump :(. The vet DID say this type of infection usualy happens because of something else happening first, and we have no idea what that might be.

SO I think she has not been eating for longer the I knew. I now get to try and stuff a pill down Purples once a day for 10 days, and after today no one else is in the hose. THATS gonna go well. I got a little gruel down her yesterday, and she either pooped on me this morning or sat on one of Snottys poops and shared it. Snotty is doing well, but Pretty still shows no interest in food or water. I just don't know if I can safely get enough down her. I'm really worried about getting it down her breathing tube, she struggles so.

We will see how the rest of the week goes.

fingers crossed. where they coming from?

Thanks a lot. They are coming from SC. Longgg trip! Hopefully they will be here tomorrow safe and
healthy.

well I saw something new tonight a flock of vultures flying overhead.  I mean like 30-40 vultures.  I have never seen anything like that before, i mean 3-6 is normal but this was crazy!
Dude, it always comes in threes!
stoked for you man!

Thanks bro Im super stoked! Lol.
It's crazy the stuff that happens to chickens. It might have been a vulture picking off my meaties. I had 25 I'm down to 18 now. And the shredded one I saw yesterday was the first one u saw dead. So they are good at sneaking off with it.

non-chicken news here -- i was ambushed at the feed store by another species:

meet Pearl, my new kitten -- HUGE purr machine

I hope they start eating and get better.

Quote: Thanks.....yesterday morning I noticed my old chicken "grandma" was missing.....I found piles of her feathers. Which means she either didn't make it to the coop the night before (one of the young cockerels was mounting her and she has been laying low) or the racoons are coming late morning or early evening! The tripped the trap, ate the food but got out. I think they're so big that the trap came down on it's tail and was able to back out. Haven't checked it this morning.

Very cute! Watch out- kitties can be as addictive as chickens!

Did the vet give you a diagnosis? Best wishes for her recovery, I know she means a lot to you.

The farms around here are always overrun with kittens. Next time Ron or someone heads that direction, I'm sure that I could find you one.
Congrats on your new birds, but am I the only one that thinks that's an awfully high price?!

I'm so sorry again, Pam. Is there anyone who could sit up at night and shoot that nasty creature?

@Capavalleychick The $175 was kind of steep but just to ship the was $115. The birds were themselves $65.
I wish I could have picked them up. But I've been looking everywhere for birds this age of this breed. So it was well worth it to me.

I should have them tomorrow so ill post up some pictures! :D

Will we get to have the Dog catch them for us?
