California - Northern

Thanks a lot. They are coming from SC. Longgg trip! Hopefully they will be here tomorrow safe and
healthy.
Thanks bro Im super stoked! Lol.
It's crazy the stuff that happens to chickens. It might have been a vulture picking off my meaties. I had 25 I'm down to 18 now. And the shredded one I saw yesterday was the first one u saw dead. So they are good at sneaking off with it.
U neeeed oner! I have been looking for a few kittens to come over here and kill some mice!
If anyone has any kittens they are rehoming let me know please.
Thanks
Have a good morning.
Mike
so did my Empordanesa. they should be fine. Just show them the water when you get them. they will be thirsty

@Capavalleychick The $175 was kind of steep but just to ship the was $115. The birds were themselves $65.
I wish I could have picked them up. But I've been looking everywhere for birds this age of this breed. So it was well worth it to me.
I should have them tomorrow so ill post up some pictures!

was $125 to ship mine

I found a skelton out in the pasture today, out with the cows, sheep & chickens. I'm wondering what it is (I'm guessing opossum) and what killed it? Weird (and a good thing) that something passed up the chickens to kill this instead.

not an opossum, their teeth aren't differentiated like those big canines (i.e. all their teeth are pretty much the same size/shape) -- i can't quite tell the scale, but best guess is a weasel? those big canine teeth, the huge eye sockets (opossums have beady little eyes), and elongated shape... no idea what might have killed it, though.

I didn't think that there were weasels here. I looked it up and it says status unknown. I hope there aren't weasels around! Mink is also on the list and it says uncommon. Two critters that I'd rather not see. At least something is eating whatever it is with those nasty teeth.

Thank you for letting me know. I need to reinforce some areas on the coops if there are weasels around.

My JG hen has been laying everyday (sometimes every other) since May. She started to molt last month but continues to lay on...

Ahhh! I just want her to molt and look "normal" again.

I recall seeing a red/orange lion looking weasel running around town with gophers until a bobcat came.

I opened the gate once and it came out of the bush and watched me...

I found something like that under a deck once. That one was a cat skeleton though. If you live near a creek, Weasels and other predators will follow the creek out of the mountains.

I am happy it did not get your chickens too!

Sound good. Mom always enjoys it when we visit her at Lake Mcumber.

Will we get to have the Dog catch them for us? :lau

Is definitely appreciate that Ron. The micr have been hitting the feeders hard. And I caught 2 in the house. Had to stop leaving the doggy door open. How do cats do outside full time? I've always had allergies so they really have to stay outside.

Thanks for the tip. I was wondering about that. So they just try to load them up on fluids before shipments or something. Or do they have some like gro gel stuff for shipping older chickens?

I took some pictures of the TJ chicks I hatched that have been keeping my Basque chick company. The Basque is going to have a very pretty pattern. She is kind of ugly now.

I think one of the TJs chicks is a pullet and the other is a boy. One has a tail and the other is just starting to get one. The one with the short tail is wider and has a larger comb already.

I might keep the pullet if she is one. I only have one white egg layer at present.

I see a bunch of feathers too--someone must be molting....
